OTD in 1928 penicillin was discovered. I didn’t know that a team of 6 women was recruited to ‘farm’ penicillin inOxford.Nicknamed the ‘penicillin girls’ they were Ruth Callow Claire Inayat Betty Cooke, Peggy Gardner Megan Lancaster Patricia McKegney. #womenshistory www.mhs.ox.ac.uk/backfromthed...

they worked in a converted animal house, and their job was to seed hundreds of shallow ceramic vessels, wait, then draw off the brown liquid without disturbing the mat growing on top.
