Dueling accusations of abuse are not uncommon in abusive relationships. If the victim fights back or buckles under the pressure and acts in self-destructive or reckless ways this is characterized as them having been the perpetrator all along. Johnny Depp and Amber Heard is one prominent case.

There’s little space for religious women’s voices. Applies to Judaism & other religions as well! Women’s interpretations of religion are seen as “made up” somehow, not authentic representations of the tradition. Patriarchal traditions are treated as more authoritative, including by secular scholars.

There are some really solid people in NA. The problem is that no one speaks up to chastise or kick out the predators. It’s a neverending cycle of shrugs and saying “oh that’s just how he is” each time it happens. That behavior shouldnt be tolerated. Period.
