And thank goodness for naltrexone. I hope your postings here help others still struggling.

As a person who lost all my family, one way or another, to addiction, who watched my mother, once warm & beloved, turn the knife into everyone who got in the way of her drinking, then die a horrible death from it, I applaud you for breaking free. Deep respect. You deserve every comment here.

I don't always see your posts in the wash of Bluesky. I think of you and your neighbors, friends, and family, more often than you could guess—because of your posts. If I had a super power I would stop this war and give you a peaceful homeland. As it is, all I can do is yearn for that peace.

Lots going on! If you're nearby, come nibble cider donuts in an orchard at dusk & listen to poems with horses. Or hold a candle against the murk of late October & hear folkloric poetry & prose honoring witches. Details at www.dmgordon.com. If you're far away—Bluesky far—just wanted you to know.

He (they) don't represent us, don't speak for us. He (they) act without our authority. They are not righteous. What he (they) are doing is wrong, wrong, wrong.

I'm reading The Children's Book by A. S. Byatt, with @simonhaisell.bsky.social, his Footnotes & Tangents on Substack. 1890's British countryside. Burne-Jones & William Morris, adult fairytales, ceramic art, dark puppet shows, lush & lyrical. Forest & shore. Shadowy, twisty, heavenly. #literary

A painting by Frederic Lord Leighton, from Wikipedia, a woman in a gauzy orange dress, curled in a dreamy nap, soft, long brown hair framing her, Not a lot of information about the painting, but it feels very much like the era. The painting is called Flaming June—the month? the woman?—She feels to me, without knowing, Rapunzel.

This one hurts. Gloria Steinem Is, as of yesterday, no longer with us. She had a clarity. She was a beacon, a true great, and it was wondrous, back then, to spend weeks with her in residence at Hedgerbook on Whidbey Island. #Gloria #feminist #activism #writers #friends

Two women smiling, a gentle side-by-side embrace, beautiful Gloria Steinem on the left in brown, and me on the right.

Paul Klee : Fishes in the Deep (Fische in der Tiefe), 1921 16 × 21.7 cm | Oil on canvas

The piece reflects Klee's fascination with aquatic themes and dreamlike, abstract spaces. In this work, mysterious fish-like forms emerge from a dark, deep pictorial field using subtle washes of color and fine linear scratching techniques typical of the artist's early Bauhaus period.

Interesting question. Only sometimes. Sometimes it's not the right moment to take it in. Depends on the poet & poem, I suppose. Some poems are never going to sink in, are going to fly away without me. Others, specially on re-reading, come to live inside me. It's the re-reading that does it. You?
