Dumping some microscope videos that are either blurry, shaky, have no magnification info, no ID, or all of the above… there are some funky guys in there though 😆

One of the things I love about microbiology is that it puts pressure on our “categorizing things” approach. When you get small, the familiar lines start to blur, and life starts to look more like a pattern unfolding in time. Feat: two different green algae in the phylum Chlorophyta :)

Macro shot of umbrella liverwort growing in a plant pot among sprouts and twigs. Pictured are multiple female reproductive structures with tall, reddish brown stalks and vivid green, star-like rays at the top, resembling miniature palm trees.

The image is of a four panel comic.
The first panel shows Sarah, the protagonist, holding a red ball labeled "A SILLY MEME".
The second panel shows Sarah taking the ball and going through a door labeled "GROUP CHAT".
The third panel shows a group of women sitting together and consoling one woman in the center. The woman in the center is saying "...And that's how it happened. It's been the worst day of my life."
The fourth panel shows Sarah standing in the doorway behind them awkwardly holding the red ball.

Today I need to share macros of the tank. This Chaos Tank is sampled from an abandoned (or stuck in paperwork) lot that used to be a gas station. A few years ago it was covered in limestone gravel and the swamp has since taken over :) calcium shells as far as the eye can see

A few Black Cat Series works I’m especially happy with. Simple, flowing lines bring each cat to life, with its own pose, expression, and personality. Some are lively and playful, others quiet and focused. I love capturing these little moments with lines. #shouxinsketch #cat #sketch #sketchdaily

Forestry and botany field courses brightened up the usually dreary veil of August at the end of this summer. Road trip karaoke, gasp out loud moments under a field magnifying lens, and teachers who care.
Scott’s pine trees. I love the orange bark further up the trunk. Hard to do it justice zoomed out.

A meadow is really just thousands of small miracles pretending to be ordinary. Every now and then one of them politely asks for your attention. This is today's candidate. 🌼 🔎 Common toadflax (Linaria vulgaris) 🌱 #FlowersOnFriday #wildflowers #nativeplants #botany #NaturePhotography
A close-up photograph of a common toadflax (Linaria vulgaris) wildflower standing among tall green grasses in a sunlit summer meadow. Creamy-white blossoms with bright golden-yellow lower lips cluster along a slender upright stem, while narrow leaves extend below. A tiny black ant is visible exploring one of the central flowers, adding a sense of scale and a glimpse of everyday wildlife. Bright sunlight reveals the delicate texture of the petals, and the shallow depth of field keeps the flower crisp against a softly blurred background of lush fields, distant trees, and a vivid blue summer sky, creating a calm and peaceful rural scene.

First time doing a spore print! Somehow...No time left today, but can't wait to take a look at the slide tomorrow. No identification on the mushroom, just practice. How fun! #mycology #mushrooms
An orange, yellow mushroom cap set on a blank glass microscopy slide set on a black piece of construction paper. After about 24 hours, the removed mushroom cap reveals a spore print on both the glass slide as well as the black construction paper. A thumbnail or a footprint of reproductive spores released onto the paper over the last day or so. What the little mushroom looked like in the wild. Haven't really looked it up yet, white and gilled on the underside, gills are separate from the stem. Found on a Massachusetts forest floor after some rain under some pines.
