Mike Sux 🍁 @distraction.engineer · 29/09/2026Anyway ya, I'm broke and sad. All I want is someone to let me hyper-focus on their hyper-niche and get paid. 🤷 0181

Mike Sux 🍁 @distraction.engineer · 29/09/2026Video games were a bus I should have got off a decade ago. Nobody seems convinced I can contribute meaningfully to middleware, code graphics drivers, write firmware for embedded devices, work in the Chrome/Firefox/Linux Kernel sources, all because I spent some years running an online community. 🤷 282
Mike Sux 🍁 @distraction.engineer · 29/09/2026Once my commitments to Ludum Dare are complete, you likely won't see me around these parts much; Maybe to hawk my "art" (under a new pseudonym), but if I'm well behaved that should be it. Mistakes were made. I sacrificed everything for the sake of others, and I can't get a job interview anywhere. 🤷 270
Mike Sux 🍁 @distraction.engineer · 29/09/2026So I spent most of the time between Ludum Dare 59 and now away from BlueSky, and ignoring most of the world news. 🙉 While yes I missed hearing from my friends, not-gonna-lie it was the most mentally chill few months I've had in years. 🧊 TMI addiction is real and extremely harmful folks. 🙅💬 1240

Mike Sux 🍁 @distraction.engineer · 19/05/2026Lazy approach is to frame a slow motion shot that shows your screen and input device. When input is received (used), something on screen needs to immediately change. Then you just count the number of frames between you smashing the input and the screen changing. 0210
Mike Sux 🍁 @distraction.engineer · 19/05/2026It would be OS dependent, display dependent, AND input device dependent (i.e. any input device that does a debounce would technically be slightly lagged). Generally speaking you can roughly test this with a high speed camera or high-speed capture mode on your cellphone. 1140

Mike Sux 🍁 @distraction.engineer · 15/05/2026It's multi-faceted. I care that people feel an event or a result is fair. Regardless of the objections to how a model is trained, people who don't use AI don't want to be compared against people that do (except when it makes them look good). 020
Mike Sux 🍁 @distraction.engineer · 15/05/2026I had to message my brother "bad news, FF11 will soon be free to play up to level 75". 😅 110
Mike Sux 🍁 @distraction.engineer · 15/05/2026Not to mention many people use AI in place of search engines these days. 🤷 Like I said, it may be a losing battle. What I want is a wording that doesn't require clarification. 040
Mike Sux 🍁 @distraction.engineer · 15/05/2026Must be. Okay. I can't remember how high I ever got, but I seem to remember either level 30 or 60 being important for unlocking multi-classing, new classes, or something. I don't think I ever hit 75. 000
Mike Sux 🍁 @distraction.engineer · 15/05/2026WUT! DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU SUCCESSFULLY QUIT PLAYING FF11... crap. 160
Mike Sux 🍁 @distraction.engineer · 15/05/2026WUT! Last I played I could have swore 60 was either the level cap or just some magically "too large" number. 😳 100
Mike Sux 🍁 @distraction.engineer · 15/05/2026Another easily overlooked issue is base-code/libraries. We allow 3rd party libraries and middleware, but there is an impossible number of dependencies to have to check whether AI was used on them or not. Hypothetically you could bypass an "AI was not used to write this" restriction with this. 🤷 130
Mike Sux 🍁 @distraction.engineer · 15/05/2026Something we easily overlook is AI translation. As an example, someone might only be able to participate because they used AI translation. AI translation is nothing new, but today's LLMs are dramatically better than previous generation ML translation models. 🤷 130
Mike Sux 🍁 @distraction.engineer · 15/05/2026"Generate" as a term would be inclusive of your various content generators (Suno, Stable Diffusion, etc), but *could* be interpreted as excluding AI touch-up brushes, or AI's that insert or filter content (i.e. prompt: make the character glow). "Create" I want to say is all encompassing. 🤔 130
Mike Sux 🍁 @distraction.engineer · 15/05/2026It saddens me, but I don't think we can assume people didn't use AI by default. The proliferation of AI in everything means you have to try to NOT use AI, meaning we should assume AI was used UNLESS they specifically say it wasn't. Also I just realized "create" vs "generate" is a debatable word. 🤦 160
Mike Sux 🍁 @distraction.engineer · 15/05/2026It might be a losing battle, but I'm pondering what #LDJam #NewLD could do to sustain a "Compo-like" vibe. Game submission metadata: [ ] NO AI WAS USED to write code [ ] NO AI WAS USED to create visual content [ ] NO AI WAS USED to create audio content [ ] NO AI WAS USED to generate other data 🤔 3260

The composer filed a lawsuit that was settled out of court. To me, the similarities sound a little too close to be a coincidence. Either way, this Linda intro absolutely rules. 301046408
