I looked through ALL crew rosters post shuttle program & I can say with about 95% confidence that YES this is the FIRST time two women have been in control of a space vehicle in a crewed environment. No mention in the #NASA news release. So let's celebrate Cmdr. Anne McClain & Pilot Nichole Ayers!

wrote a poem this morning it's called DJ Tiësto's St Paul Set Summer 2025

Working hard this year. It's good to work hard.
What else is there to do?
Nothing wrong with staying busy.

Sometimes wonder if it's going to last forever --
of course nothing lasts forever.
You hear it all your life:

for example, the first time you lose something important.
Not you personally hears it. Everybody hears it. In Minnesota,
today, well-rested, you're on, and it's beautiful;

it will be pretty humid here this time next month
but nobody here is thinking about that now.
In a way, that's how all this works --

a sunny day somewhere,
enough people to form a sort of collective presence,
no one worried about the future for now, because of now.

A thought occcurs to you then, right there in St Paul, before the crowd:
you've been doing this for thirty-one years.
The music is so loud, but you have this thought

without judgement, without weight.
With neither wonder nor dread. Just so. Bobbing on the water.
Thirty-one years and maybe next year thirty-two.

old Soviet joke for our times: Guy stops by the newsstand every day, scans the front page, doesn’t buy the paper. One day the vendor asks what he’s up to. Guy says: “looking for an obituary.” Vendor says “those are towards the back of the paper, comrade.” Guy says: “not the one I’m looking for.”

American Analog Set tonight in SF was sublime, heavy on tracks from Fireworks and Know By Heart, Ben Gibbard joined for Choir Vandals & they closed with We're Computerizing... Slowcore nostalgia at it's finest.

Musk's whole deal is to pretend that no one knew how government bureaucracy worked before, like it was this big mystery box, and it's exactly that combo of stupidity and arrogance that pervades silicon valley and leads to them reinventing a city bus and thinking they're Isaac Newton

Look I agree that Elon Musk appears to be on a lot of drugs every time he appears in public. That's not very interesting to me. I'm more interested in how many drugs he can do at once. I think he could probably do more than anyone ever. I bet he could take way more than the doctors say is safe.
