One thing I really hate about the way we talk about abusers and rapists is that the possibility of change and forgiveness is conflated with those things having actually happened.

seeing conservative men debate how to dress online is very funny. can't dress up or wear interesting casualwear bc you've made any visible interest in dress to be a sign of homosexuality. but you feel the need to dress better bc you've linked dress to respectability. a prison of your own making.

I don’t understand why people who hate thinking and writing feel like they need to produce things that require those things

“Concerns over an AI bubble bursting have grown lately, with analysts recently finding that it’s 17 times the size of the dotcom-era bubble and four times bigger than the 2008 financial crisis.” Hang onto your butts. This “correction” is gonna hurt. futurism.com/artificial-i...

boost your user satisfaction and growth with this one weird trick (removing the shit everyone hates that you added for no reason)
r/SaaS
u/soasme
I deleted ALL AI features... and user growth went UP.

Everyone's busy adding Al to everything.
I did the same for indie10k.com but it didn't work.
I removed all of fancy Al stuff - Al coach, Al growth ideas, Al "personalized" advice - everything.
Guess what?
I see more registered users and higher retention.
That actually make me wonder why now i have one page with one button, without all that Al thingy, but it does better?
Here's my question:
Is Al feature actually helping SaaS grow?

When I feel far away from art I do these kind of pieces: I think of them as 'movements my hands love to do'. There is not a goal, there is not an audience -- just color and shape and the pleasure of doing 'a thing' until I feel 'done'. It's a form of meditation (flow).

There is an actual life-changing conflict between WFH being cheaper and more efficient, an entire layer of middle managers who need to have meetings to feel alive, and the commercial real estate cabal that runs all cities. It’s going to get so fucking weird.

There’s a free application, shutup10++, that lets you disable all the shitty windows stuff with a series of checkboxes. It even tracks if windows rolls anything back between updates and lets you reverse the changes with a click. I can personally recommend shutup10++ if you need to stick with windows

wikipedia's data shows that AI is siphoning traffic away from the site, which is a danger to its sustainability. ironically Wikipedia is more important than ever to users who want reliable information instead of slop, and to AI companies that need it for training data www.404media.co/wikipedia-sa...

I think one of the saddest things about being a millennial is remembering a time when technology was advancing in a way that made life better and easier and more exciting instead of actively, intentionally worse

This hits a lot of the notes I've been shouting from the rooftops: the frictionlessness of both producing and consuming slop, and the value of labor as friction that lets us slow down and think. Rather than "unlocking creativity" it's rendering our collective creativity down into a big vat of slop.

This person is one hundred percent correct and it’s scary af. We will never “media literacy” our way out of this as a society. We are about to reap the whirlwind when it comes to misinformation, disinformation, and informational warfare.

Understanding right wing mindsets become easier when you recognize hypocrisy isn't a bug, it's the feature. In their minds hypocrisy is a green flag because their wordview believes in a hierarchy and the evidence of 'rules for thee, not for me' is a sign of that hierarchy working exactly as desired

leading up to and during ww2, the nazis destroyed and erased art at scale in an attempt to rewrite culture there are countless stories of people (often refugees) risking their lives to protect or save a single painting in case you're wondering if it's pointless to make art during fascist bullshit
