The Communist Manifesto by music_kid67 listed on AO3 with tags "Hurt No Comfort", "History", "Everyone is Gay", and "Found Family". It's better this way. Had the US won tonight it would've been a vindication of corruption as a means to success. This way a single nation drops out of a tournament, but the game itself gets to live on to be played, watched and enjoyed another day.

Seen near Holborn Station, on the route of the Unite the Kingdom rally. When the scapegoats are gone, the borders are fortified, and the hatred has done its damage, the cost of living will still rise, the NHS will still be dying, and corporate vultures will still be picking our lives apart.
A red text-based public artwork by Frank Riot displayed in a JCDecaux advertising panel outside Holborn Station in London, UK. The poster reads: “When you’ve got rid of all the mosques but the costs of life still rise and you’ve built your fortressed borders but the NHS still dies and the Muslims are all gone and your town’s a wall of white but corporate vultures are still pillaging every facet of our lives who will you blame then? What will you have gained? A badge for barbarism against a backdrop of decay.” Pedestrians walk past the bus shelter on a busy city street.

the "tax the billionaires" political refrain is Good Actually in part because it is a call for the people at the top to actually be constrained by rules informed by the public interest, a virtue that fingerwagging correctives about how much revenue such taxes would *really* generate doesn't address

Common tactic of the chronically unreflective and insecure. "Self-important condescension is like peeing on oneself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings." -Alan Wald

It has often been said that fascism is when colonialism comes home, but now we can also say that it is when the organized abandonment that defines racism overspills its boundaries (the irony of course is that it does so in the name of preserving the wages of whiteness).

Every rich person is going to tell *you* how great AI teaching is while sending *their* kids to the kind of schooling the Ancient Greeks would recognize. I just wish everyone would think about why that is.

Impossible to communicate to people that once you decide that a group more vulnerable than you can be sacrificed in the name of your own safety or interests that you have already entered into an tacit agreement that you can also be sacrificed in the interests of a group less vulnerable than you.

"Do your own research," "Grow your own food," "Get a gun to defend yourself" Okay, but I would like to like in a society, something where we work together to improve life for each other and not in some weird amalgamation of little robinsonades where everyone is looking out for themselves.

The stupidity is the point. All of these cuts to research, to education, to libraries, are not cost saving measures that have collateral damage to knowledge, they are attempts to eviscerate collective intelligence.

The unstated premise of the “truth versus social justice” narrative is that racism, sexism, etc., are all in some sense true, natural and any attempt to overcome them is political, social engineering, and ultimately deception or fraud.
