One unexplained death in Russia, with possible concerns about #plague, is dominating headlines. Meanwhile, #Ebola continues to worsen in DRC with 8,300 cases. 4,018 deaths since May Yet much of the world and the media seems to have moved on. What’s wrong with this picture?

Seeing many posts about #plague, so a reminder: Plague is serious -- an incident involving a high-containment lab warrants investigation. Right now, we have an unexplained death from pneumonia, NOT confirmed plague or evidence of an outbreak. Watch closely. Avoid speculation. Follow the evidence.

Graphs from the Original Article "Atorvastatin, Cardiovascular Events, and Disability-free Survival in Older Adults." The trial name, STAREE, is in parentheses after the title. The graphs show the cumulative incidence of primary end-point events (death from cardiovascular causes, nonfatal myocardial infarction or stroke, or coronary revascularization, whichever occurred first). ⚒️ Bronze Age high-tech! Nearly 4,000 years ago, this ingenious stone mould could cast five different sizes of flat axe! Cutting-edge technology from a time when metal was replacing stone, bone and wooden tools! Found in Shropshire in 1961. Shrewsbury Museum 📷 by me #FindsFriday #Archaeology
My photo shows a carved stone axe mould made from Carboniferous Grit displayed on a clear acrylic museum stand. It is roughly a cuboid rectangular, weathered stone block with a recessed axe-shaped cavity on the top face and two axe-shaped cavities on the front face (one small, one large). In total there are moulds for five metal flat axes though not all can be seen in my photo. It was found at Walleybourne Brook, Pontesbury/Church Purverbatch, Shropshire, in 1961. Dated to the Bronze Age, 1900-1700 BC.

Done RCTs professionally for more than 30 years. They certainly are not the answer to every question, but in an era when e.g peptides are being approved without any reliable data I am weary of those who downplay their value, just because - like any other tool- they can be manipulated by bad actors.
