The response of Keely's family should be noted. @safestreetsnow.bsky.social #SafeStreetsNow
Keely's family said in a statement that, while they respected the court's decision, the sentence did not reflect the "enormity" of her death.

"Keely was just 15 - full of life, hope, and endless possibilities. Her death has devastated our family and community," they added.

"The pain of losing her in such a violent and preventable way will remain with us forever.

"We believe more must be done to ensure that dangerous/careless drivers face real consequences."

We've spoken before about the vastly prohibitive costs of Non-Standard cycles, and how the Wheels4Me.co.uk loan scheme seeks to ease that financial burden. Here's a graphic from the newest version of our Guide to #InclusiveCycling (coming soon!) detailing some of those eye-watering estimated costs.
Graphic showing a range of cycle types and describing the range of features and costs.
Costs range from 500 pounds for a standard bike to 13,000 pounds for some e-assist tandem types.
Different features listed from top of page zigzagging left to right to bottom in orange boxes are:
One or more wheels; unpowered or e-assist; one or more riders; passenger and cargo options; different seat types - saddle, seat, with or without harness or restraints; different pedal positions and types - hand, foot, handle, clip and strap options; different braking & gear options - two hands, one hand, feet, e-assist, automatic; storage & manoeuvring features eg folding, lightweight.
Cycle costs given are:
Add e-assist to any unpowered cycle £1k - £3k
Clip-on handcycle £3k - £8k (plus compatible wheelchair £3k+)
Tandems £1k - £13k
Wheelchair transporter duet: £3k - £10k
Child carriers: £100 - £1000

A typical European car is parked 92% of the time. It spends 1/5th of its driving time looking for parking. Its 5 seats only move 1.5 people. 86% of its fuel never reaches the wheels, and most of the energy that does, moves the car, not the people. Sound efficient? HT @ellenmacarthurfdn.bsky.social

ULEZ works. It’s that simple. Expanding the Ultra Low Emission Zone wasn’t a decision I took lightly, but the latest figures show that it was the right one for the health of millions of Londoners.
A graphic with a blue sky background and white clouds. The text reads: "Harmful NO2 levels are estimated to be lower in 2024 compared to a scenario without ULEZ". The reductions are listed as follows: Central London – 54% lower, Inner London – 29% lower, Outer London – 24% lower. A source link at the bottom reads: london.gov.uk/ulez.
