No cheating share the last photo on your photo roll of sky
Sunrise, Golden hour, over the Old City Hall in Boston. The sky is golden and fading to a blue grey. The skyscrapers still have their lights on for various floors so the city is caught between night and morning.

The US was lovely. The thing I found weirdest was the reaction to people finding out it was my first time in the US. That can’t be that unusual, right?

I arrived back at 08:30 this morning. Little bumpy thanks to a NorthEasterly, but it was grand. I slept until the last hour. But Jesus was I shattered. I ended up pulling off at a services and napping for 30 mins because the lane lines were blurring. Best safety decision.

I made it to Boston unscathed, no sleep on the plane, but I am apparently a very nice « auntie » because I kept waving at the child in front of me and lent them a charger when watching soccer drained dad’s phone. I am apparently old enough to be an « auntie » in Indian culture 😂 better than « lady »

I have sufficiently calmed down from yesterday to politely put into works what I think about Boots. I went in yesterday to pick up a box of OTC painkillers. It was ibuprofen and codeine, and I use it to manage breakthrough #fibromyalgia pain. Given that it’s inflammatory, this works better for me.

Have safely arrived at car park, all checked in there. Now off to the terminal to see if they’ll let me on a plane…

Note to self: Do not leave checking in until the last damned minute for an international flight. And never book Virgin again. Also, never, ever go to Boots and tell the truth! Sanctimonious power-tripping bastards, the lot of them.

My US peeps - I will apparently have most of a day in Boston next week. Are there things that I need to see, bookshops I need to visit, things I need to take pictures of, tours that need to be taken?

Okay, I do like that iPhone is prompting people to put in a reason for calling for unknown numbers. But... "Thank you. Hello, this is your vegetable." That's just... not helpful.

Long shot - but would anyone have a "spare" Dexcom One transmitter that is left over from them upgrading to a new CGM? I have 5 Dexcom One sensors, and I cannot get a transmitter at all... It's out of stock everywhere. I know that it's discontinued, but usually there's something. #t2d #diabetes #uk

This is a rant - no advice needed - but pictures of cute things appreciated: My level of personal accountability is dangerously high. When I see things starting to fail at work, I step in to cover them and help. It means cutting chunks of myself out to patch the holes, and leaves me with nothing.

I really cannot think of a greater honor than to have the Muppets say this about you upon your passing
Instagram post from the official Muppets account: Few humans have earned the title of honorary Muppet more than the legendary Tim Curry. As a performer he was unparalleled - witty, charming, unnerving, and deeply funny. We will always consider it one of our greatest treasures to have been part of Long John Silver’s crew. Thank you for everything, Tim.

Yesterday was a bit of a mixed bag of a day. ✅ Took the day off and went shopping for notebooks ❌ Body decided to be a complete bastard to me ✅ Had a nap ❌ Couldn't eat dinner - but it was delicious ✅ Spent time with family and wife So I'm going to call it an okay day, but body is still a dick!

Wife has decided that I need time off. Manager has stated that I need time off. Apparently my usually sunny disposition has taken a few critical hits over the last few weeks/months and there's a bit of a crack in the armour. So, I am taking a nice long weekend, with the exception of Fri morning.

Rewatching some 90’s Perry Mason, there’s a lot of repeat DAs and Judges. Seems to me that if you were the judge pulling Mason as defense attorney, you would be on the edge of your seat to see who the actual killer is! Like having Rabb as your JAG lawyer.

So, I successfully got an ESTA visa for the States. I don't quite know why I was so worried about it - but I guess the fact that I had to disclose my socials gave me a little bit of anxiety because I don't know what level of detail they look at. But, that means that I'm going to the US in Sept.

I am trying to figure out how not to be resentful right now. I am a manager, and I think a good one, but resourcing is so tight right now that there is no capacity to cover OOO, so I am doing cover. Not terrible, but people just dropped stuff with no regard, and I have to pick it all up.

I love being a woman. Really trying to remember why though! Today started with having my cervix acid washed with legs in stirrups. Precautionary but it didn’t look right to the GP so given I want to go on HRT and we didn’t want any risks. Turns out I have cervical entropion. Perfectly normal. 🥳

Working through one of my #storygraph challenges about indigenous history and I backed out of a book about First Nations history written by a white guy that dedicated the book to God. Much prefer an actual indigenous voice. Bonus she speaks Cree in the book!

In news that surprises no one who knows me, I have been researching perimenopause given I seem to be in the middle of it, and ladies, why is it that we only hear about mood swings, night sweats and hot flashes. The changes women go through because of estrogen are really varied and not discussed!

Getting fed up with vestibular migraines thanks to menopause! Like seriously, were the stress headaches not enough that you’re hitting me with week long migraines now? And stealing my ability to read text. 😰 The orange glasses help stop the screens stabbing me in the eyes but don’t help reading.

As I went out to pull in our bins this morning, I saw the most adorable hedgehog sauntering down the path. I was a little shocked because I have never seen a hedgehog in real life before, and I genuinely thought they were nocturnal. He was a fast little bugger too... Didn't approach, just said hi.

In College we had a teacher who "taught" us Java, he held a lab exam for 2 hours every Wednesday where he programmed 90% of an assignment and left us to do the last 10%. It didn't matter if we understood the assignment or not, we were graded on it. I ran into an error and couldn't resolve it.

Katalin Karikó is one of the most extraordinary scientific stories of this era. A girl from a modest Hungarian household helped develop technology that saved millions of lives worldwide. In 2023, she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for discoveries that enabled effective mRNA vaccines.
SHE WAS DEMOTED, UNDERPAID, AND IGNORED FOR 40 YEARS. HER
UNIVERSITY TOLD HER MRNA RESEARCH WAS WORTHLESS. HER COLLEAGUES STOPPED TAKING HER SERIOUSLY. SHE EARNED $50,000 A YEAR FOR FOUR DECADES. THEN COVID ARRIVED - AND, SHE WON THE NOBEL PRIZE.
