I'm heartbroken to see this news of Dr. Raúl Pacheco Vega's passing. He was the model of personal and scholarly generosity, and I'm grateful that his spirit will live on in those he mentored, and that his voice will live on in the resources he produced and shared, but I'm so sad that he is gone.

Are they saying that? I’m not a DoE policy expert but state schools are subject to the jurisdiction of state depts of ed. DoE doesn’t oversee curriculums, for example.

The pentagon were not able to complete their last six audits and can’t account for 63% of its $4 trillion in assets. Congress keeps giving pentagon more money than they ask for. A lot of our social issues require just a fraction of this money.

I love being in a feminist department. How we approach each other, the mutual respect, the ability to discuss tough matters and come together is beautiful. Just finished my first semester as a tenured prof at a R1. My students were an absolute joy. Intellectually curious and willing to embrace challenge & rigor. My scholarship has blossomed; it’s unbelievable how much more time I have for intellectual & creative pursuits. Service was meaningful.
