A lot of people like to blame a lot of current education issues on covid and I'm sure a lot are valid, but as a college instructor it hit right before that, with the first group wo did their entire K-12 under No Child Left Behind. The difference was marked in literacy and critical thinking.

Reminder that most of the really bad cuts haven't even kicked in yet because they are designed to hit after midterms. I know a lot of people don't think voting can be harm reduction, but I (a deaf queer with a deaf kid) do, and I think they do, too or they wouldn't be hiding behind that timeline.

So many of our conversations in the deaf community involve hearing parents needing (and usually refusing) to learn sign for their deaf kids, but have you ever seen one do it and then be like, "oh no, you're effectively communicating that you're kind of a jerk" 😅😅
