They flew 600,000+ miles around the Moon and they landed exactly when and where engineers expected them to land. Every day we're bombarded with all the terrible things humans are capable of doing--following this mission from launch to landing proved that humans are still capable of wonder, too.

Today, the U.S. faces one billion+ dollar climate/weather disaster on average every 2w. That's a massive increase from one every 4m in the 1980s. This is 'global weirding' and people are taking notice! The government told NOAA to stop tracking these events: but @climatecentral.org is on the job.

Sarcasm aside, it's perhaps worth pointing out that the evidence suggests that weather disasters reduce economic growth for decades - the idea that there's rapid bounceback, or even extra growth stimulated by recovery, has proved wrong www.newscientist.com/article/mg23...

We all get poorer every time a climate disaster strikes
Long-term economic effects of global warming could be far greater than thought, making many countries poorer and hurting even those of us spared direct impacts

Here’s the way to think about climate change that I learned from @drkatemarvel.bsky.social: We’re creating an increasingly chaotic and dangerous world, sending our children and grandchildren there, and they’re never coming back.

Something maybe worth noting is that all the frog costumes and signs and good-natured memeing came about because a wide spectrum of Americans saw someone in direct, brave confrontation with ICE—getting pepperballed and standing their ground—and thought “that’s awesome. That person is a hero”

Trumpnomics: Get tariff money from US consumers on Chinese goods. Our farmers can’t sell their products because the Chinese refuse to pay our tariffs. China buys from farmers in Argentina instead. We send Argentina $20 billion. Then we pay our farmers to throw their crops away.

But it’s also a reminder: these advances only exist because of investment in science and medicine. If we stop funding progress, we stop giving kids like Isla the chance to live the full lives they deserve.

For one assignment, we had to write a paper about a genetic disease. I chose cystic fibrosis. But instead of writing a standard “this is CF” paper, I wrote it as if I were a genetic counselor, explaining to new parents what their child’s diagnosis meant.

When I was in college, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to major in so I explored lots of different classes. One of them was a genetics class at NCSU that I completely fell in love with and it’s the reason I chose to study science.

NOAA was developing a tool to help communities prepare for future rainfall. Trump officials stopped it.
The tool would have projected how climate change could affect rainfall frequency and intensity in communities across the nation.
