A significant amount of rain is on the way for the central U.S., with 3-5+ inches expected for many areas currently experiencing drought. While it'll be beneficial to an extent, this much rain falling all at once on arid ground is a recipe for flooding.

There's an outside chance that tiny Tropical Storm Fay in the northeastern Atlantic becomes the season's first hurricane within the next 24 hours. Tiny storms like this are prone to exceeding expectations. I remember Hurricane Danny in 2015 (I think?) unexpectedly ran up to Cat 3 intensity.
