Sometimes you knit something that needs blocking, but isn't flat. This is a tam or beret (with the famous 3-hares pattern where each hare has 2 ears, but there are only 3 ears in total). In the end I blocked it on a saucepan. 🧶🐇🐇🐇 www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib...
Knitted beret with a pattern of 3 hares running clockwise round the brim. Each hare shares its ears with the other 2 hares, so each hare has 2 ears but there are only 3 ears in total.

A very tiny drama on the garden step bird café: a sort of stand off between Fingerbob the wood mouse & Dave the robin. In the end they both bottled it. It’s possible I’m too invested in this stuff but it’s giving me a lift so apols for the spam…

Unite have launched a new Reporting Tool, where our members can inform us of any issues they have had as a result of the EHRC guidance being released. This includes any impacts members have had in either their workplaces, or even as a service user.
Our new tool will allow members to share their experiences with us and have the option for us to share this with their Regional Industrial Officer and/or Regional Equalities Officer so we can truly understand the impact that this may be having.
I want to reiterate that Unite firmly stands by all of our members and will not waver in offering support to any member who is facing discrimination as a result of living their life as who they are. Discrimination against someone for their sexual orientation or their gender reassignment remains unlawful and Unite is unequivocal in our support for any member who experiences this.

ScrapHappy June 2026 – Memorial Jewellery – Art Clay Silver
I'm in the midst of a commission to incorporate some cremation ashes into a ring. I'd hoped to share the actual completed ring in a regular post, but I'm waiting on my gem supplier to send me a specific stone that has meaning for my customer; so I'm showing what I made with the clay dust that's left over from the original ring piece, which can be classed as reuse of waste.

This often means that items such as rings no longer fit, or get jammed onto a finger, necessitating drastic removal in the event of an emergency*. In March I was contacted by someone who was looking to do something with her father's wedding ring.

In which I repurpose an earring Jewellery is all about sentiment, isn't it?! I never wear gold. In fact, I've only ever worn gold reluctantly, and when someone's given it to me. And that means I've half a dozen pairs of studs that I've not worn since I was a teenager, almost 40 years ago. Of course, I've not been able to scrap them, because I remember who gave them to me, and what it meant, so like Smaug, I hoard them in my emergency gold pot, in case something needs a repair and I can reuse the metal there.
