I’ve knocked on more than 8k doors since June, but even then, seeing a military surplus ammunition box as a mailbox this evening was unique. Likely not a swing voter :)

It has been much easier at the municipal level though, were I had it much clearer which party was closer to my worldview on urban issues. Harder to feel the same when I look at provincial or federal politics, where my vote is cast mostly by "party whose worldview I dislike the least".

I love how the main takeaway of this video is that making cyclists yield to cars at intersections is ridiculous. Unfortunately Edmonton has this same rule and even installed yield signs on intersections that use elephant feet markings.

Thanks to Global for this important coverage. I have noticed, already, a significant change with dialled-in voters. The timing is a significant challenge for local campaigns, who will bleed volunteers, and who fundraise without tax credits. globalnews.ca/video/120747...

This outcome highlighted a recurring challenge for urban transformation: politicians and planners often hear most from those who oppose change, not necessarily from those who stand to benefit from it. While opponents may be more organised, vocal and visible, they don’t represent the silent majority.

We are in a Provincial election now, and there’s nothing that can be done about it. In a way, I’m glad that Kelowna residents will have a say on Provincial issues like health care, education and school construction, care homes, and complex needs medical treatment for mental health and additions.

Excellent article from Peter Waldkirch in Sightline. Apartments in Vancouver, as in Kelowna, are oftentimes used to shield other areas from air pollution and busy roads. Cheaper homes can only go in the worst areas. Would like to see this brought to YLW. www.sightline.org/2026/09/18/t...

This is the part many Americans -- including the Bezosites at the Washington Post -- don't understand. Canadians don't see this just as a Trump thing. It's that America elected him twice, and the second time with an even bigger mandate. The problem we're addressing is America, not Trump.
