Trauma clinician here. Even if those kids are released tomorrow they will never be fully released from the trauma of their incarceration. They may leave Dilley, but they will never completely leave Dilley behind them. The impact is forever. That is what our government chooses to do to children.

Immigration judge to my client in court today: "Ma'am, the children will need to wait outside--but this shouldn't take long. I don't want you to be separated from your children." given what the order I knew she was about to issue, the cruelty of this phrasing stopped my breath

Bluesky is likely aware that public, text based social will continue to remain niche. Based on their recent focus on group chats, my bet is that they will try to compete with Discord. The public square would be a funnel into smaller but more “sticky” communities

I’ve noticed a lot of people burning out this way. Someone should build a feed that works just like For You but with a single “happiness” knob using eg sentiment analysis.

a reason that Stevens lost and other AIPAC candidates are losing despite the huge infusions of money is that Dem voters don't want to vote for a candidate who is funded by the same org who will immediately turn around and fund the Republicans

American culture is so weird when it comes to death. In Mexican culture, death feels more present and insubstantial and I think that ultimately helps people be more clear-eyed in situations like this. Dying is not a thing that rewrites your life.

Really frustrating to see this when they struck gold with The 3 Body Problem, and then immediately suffocated it. It had everything going for it: an epic and complete story, proven producers, and great actors.

The rebuke from the Democratic party must be as swift and complete as it was for Swalwell. Trash like Platner has no place in representing the will of the people.

I’m at my mom’s house, checking in on her. I took a walk and saw two trans inclusive Pride flags on her block here in Biddeford, ME. It’s hard to be far from friends tonight on Pride, but it helped to learn community is near—just one of the ways these flags work. Thanks to everyone who flies them.

Liz Soto and Savanna Batten are 2 of those sentenced to 50 years in prison for Prairieland. I visited them in a north Texas jail—11 months into their incarceration over a July 4 noise demo—to meet the Trump admin’s “Antifa terrorists”. from behind glass, Soto said, “They didn’t like my book club.”

One thing that does not get talked about often enough is intelligence/token. For example, Qwen3.5 9B has a much higher artificial analysis score than Granite 4.1 8B. But if you compare the output tokens required to run the eval, it tells a different story.
A scatter plot comparing AI models by their Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index score versus the number of output tokens used. The chart plots six models—Claude 4.5 Sonnet, DeepSeek V4 Pro, Qwen3.5 9B, Granite 4.1 30B, Granite 4.1 8B, and Nova Lite—with a highlighted green quadrant representing the most efficient high-performance range.
Estimated Values (Intelligence Index score / Output Tokens):
Claude 4.5 Sonnet: 37 / ~7.8M
DeepSeek V4 Pro: 39 / ~14M
Qwen3.5 9B: 27 / ~78M
Granite 4.1 30B: 15 / ~4.6M
Granite 4.1 8B: 12.5 / ~4.0M
Nova Lite: 12.5 / ~7.0M

This attempted refutation is incorrect. 1. They also looked at couples rather than households and found it was still true 2. It is also true for market incomes by age 30 (the early 20’s lag is easily explained by more education time) 3. The square root adjustment is standard statistical practice.

This is why it’s hard not to roll my eyes when people complain about “vibe coding.” So much code out there is already insane! LLMs are great for refractors which would otherwise be prohibitively cumbersome.

“The same 732-byte Python script roots every Linux distribution shipped since 2017.”: copy.fail What are we doing here? 10 lines of Python gets you root and everyone just shrugged until today?
It seems there was some kind of confusion during the disclosure process, because the vendors aren't treating this vulnerability as serious and it remains unpatched in many distros.

It would be good if we had some standardized aggregate intelligence rating similar to Artificial Analysis but lighter to guide the selection of appropriate quant level/method. It’s currently a time consuming black art. Seems like it could be reasonably integrated into huggingface.
