Trauma clinician here. Even if those kids are released tomorrow they will never be fully released from the trauma of their incarceration. They may leave Dilley, but they will never completely leave Dilley behind them. The impact is forever. That is what our government chooses to do to children.

Bluesky is likely aware that public, text based social will continue to remain niche. Based on their recent focus on group chats, my bet is that they will try to compete with Discord. The public square would be a funnel into smaller but more “sticky” communities

Huge unaddressed caveat in this article is how valid the metrics are. Everyone’s already mentioned bots/spammers. But afaict similarweb measures in terms of links to the “bsky.app” domain? If so that’s like rating a restaurant based on how many people use a specific entrance.

From what I see in my extended family, there’s many Hispanics which are hyper-religious and uneducated which aligns well with R. A lot are anti-choice, anti-lgbtq, misogynistic and the lack of education means they accept propaganda wholesale. Obviously generalizing, but I’ve seen it with my own eyes

American culture is so weird when it comes to death. In Mexican culture, death feels more present and insubstantial and I think that ultimately helps people be more clear-eyed in situations like this. Dying is not a thing that rewrites your life.

I’m at my mom’s house, checking in on her. I took a walk and saw two trans inclusive Pride flags on her block here in Biddeford, ME. It’s hard to be far from friends tonight on Pride, but it helped to learn community is near—just one of the ways these flags work. Thanks to everyone who flies them.
