A dad and his young son caught me talking to the street dog outside the apartment and the kid said something to me in Hindi/Marathi. “He’s telling you to keep talking to the dog because it understands you and likes it.” the dad says. I look back at the dog and I swear it’s smiling at me.

Back in Mumbai after barely 4 days at home. Tired, emotional and getting upset that I didn’t say goodbye to my dog because I’d get too upset saying goodbye to him. And whilst I’m making myself sad about it, he’s probably just chewing a plastic bottle he pinched out of the kitchen, happy as Larry.
