I actually don't but to be clear my vote will be wasted whatever I decide in a constituency where Reform UK remains favourite to oust a Tory with Labour and Lib Dems nowhere close and the Green Party sadly nowhere. That vote will probably be Labour but I won't rejoin Labour if H/row goes ahead.

I've seen the lobby in action, deciding the line to take in a dismal attempt to keep their jobs. Off the record/non-attributable briefings by a trusted source are one thing; lazy herd mentality at the expense of good journalism quite another.

I attended several Tory conferences as an accredited hack in the 70s-80s. They were the most unpleasant events I have ever been too (and that includes the PIE) - ill-mannered "representatives", joyless sex and buckets of booze (OK so the last applied to all main parties).

What was morally wrong was to use a crude mechanism to correct pensioner poverty without an exit policy and with no thought to the implications of its impact over decades. Income tax on those with additional income not enough to offset its blunt nature.

Agreed - I've owned c20 cars over 55 years and I've never, never, had to replace a registration plate. So why so many suppliers if not to fuel people's vanity or facilitate criminal and dangerous behaviour.

Time to start another circumnavigation of the Aubrey/Maturin canon, to immerse in an era when men had honour and scrubs met their destiny. Patrick O'Brian's writing is far ahead of his "rivals" - in truth there are none. Scholarship, humour and truth in every page of the 20 completed novels.
