Rob @robcrank68.bsky.social takes care for Alan's turns of #BirdOfTheDay with the themes #BlueWater birds surround by blue water and #Perched bird perched on anything but not on branches. Here's a #perched picture from a very cold February day a few years ago. See also profile pic.
Me, wrapped up warm, with a robin perched on my hat.

The image shows the short, uplifting poem "Smiling Is Infectious" by Spike Milligan.

Poem Text

Smiling Is Infectious
by Spike Milligan
Smiling is infectious,
you catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled at me today,
I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner
and someone saw my grin.
When he smiled I realized
I'd passed it on to him.
I thought about that smile,
then I realized its worth.
A single smile, just like mine
could travel round the earth.
So, if you feel a smile begin,
don't leave it undetected.
Let's start an epidemic quick,
and get the world infected!

One for @greenleejw.bsky.social , the Eel House on the river Arle, or Alre if you prefer, near Alresford. Built around 1822 to catch mature eels.
Set over a river, a single storey brick building with three arches below it. The arches contained grids to catch eels.

Drama on my walk today. A devils coach horse beetle attacking a large yellow underwing moth. There was a struggle but I don't think the outcome was in doubt. #insects #photography #nature #moth #devilscoachhorse
THe devils coach horse is a black beetle with a long segmented abdomen, it is a voracious predator. It had hold of the moth behind its head and the two were struggling, but I expect the moth must already have been weak for it to be on the ground accessible to the beetle.

I was thinking about visiting Watts Gallery and remembered that we were once served tea there in a MultiMap teapot. Long story short, I just bought a MultiMap teapot on Etsy. I wonder if I’ll be able to sell it to Microsoft for $50 million

My first time seeing long tailed tits in the garden. There were six of them in a red robin tree for a few minutes. #longtailedtits #birds #inmygarden #photography
A long tailed tit perched on the far side of a twig, partially hidden by leaves. I had never seen one in my garden before and I've rarely been able to get a photo of one as they move about so fast in tree canopies. This one kindly posed for long enough for me to get my camera.

This red admiral is very territorial but seems to have decided to tolerate humans, after a few displays of force failed to eject us from its garden. It has settled on both of us and joined us at the table as we had cold drinks. #buterfly #insect #photography #wildlife #inthegarden

So far this #worldcup I have only seen one car covered in England flags. Normally there are loads of them, so maybe people don’t want to be seen to be associated with those using the flag for racism and intimidation.

@motoringpodcast.com re. That Jag name. It may be a long reach, but their best known prewar model was the SS 100. So 001 could be a reversal of the numeric part and though the SS part might go down well with some of their target market, it's still unwise.
