Drama on my walk today. A devils coach horse beetle attacking a large yellow underwing moth. There was a struggle but I don't think the outcome was in doubt. #insects #photography #nature #moth #devilscoachhorse

THe devils coach horse is a black beetle with a long segmented abdomen, it is a voracious predator. It had hold of the moth behind its head and the two were struggling, but I expect the moth must already have been weak for it to be on the ground accessible to the beetle.

A long tailed tit perched on the far side of a twig, partially hidden by leaves. I had never seen one in my garden before and I've rarely been able to get a photo of one as they move about so fast in tree canopies. This one kindly posed for long enough for me to get my camera.

This red admiral is very territorial but seems to have decided to tolerate humans, after a few displays of force failed to eject us from its garden. It has settled on both of us and joined us at the table as we had cold drinks. #buterfly #insect #photography #wildlife #inthegarden

I imagine that they could be a hoot, despite having the disadvantages of two and four wheelers. After all, I enjoy a car which is dynamically worse than lots of other things I could have bought for the same money. If I ever go for three wheels, two would have to be at the front. Seen last week:

I saw one in the road for the first time today. Started searching for ones for sales and wondering if I could fit it behind the seats of the Morgan.

One of the robins that live in my garden perched on the "windscreen" of a moneybox shaped like a Morgan car. Some dried mealworms can be seen in the passenger compartment.

That reminded me of this photo from about 20 years ago: The Ian Dury bench had a splendid view, his favourite I believe, and two solar powered MP3 players built into the arm rests. One played his Desert Island Discs, the other a selection of his music.
