The state of this. A 14-year-old story, reheated to look like breaking news and embellished with gory detail, spat out across Reach's national and local news sites and aggregated into AOL feeds. There are still ways of funding journalism. This should not be one of them.

Have the British public always been so self centred? I’m staggered by how many people I’ve seen saying ‘I don’t use buses so what good is that?’ Or ‘pubs aren’t for me so who cares?’ Millions of people do use each and they are both pretty vital for our economy and society

Seen a few people saying rough sleeping policy isn’t aimed at median public concern. Quite apart from any policy/moral imperative it really is - rough sleeping comes up time again in focus groups as one of the most visible signs of Broken Britain and community decline!

Few random F1 thoughts watching the #CanadianGP. 1. Lovely to have F1 cars that look racey rather than big and bulky. 2. The F1 TV feed has not adapted to 2026. The TV feed is trying to do too much and ultimately falling short. 3. This is Antonelli's to lose. Even before Russell's DNF.

The thing that baffles me about the Max Verstappen / The Guardian issue is: did no one on either side have the foresight to reach out to the other during the off season to clear the air? The F1 paddock is a small world and I'm just surprised this wasn't smoothed over before Japan.

Newly unearthed Nigel Farage videos reveal support for rioter, neo-Nazi event and far-right slogans
Exclusive: Analysis of more than 4,000 of Reform UK leader’s paid-for Cameo videos also shows they contain misogynistic remarks and antisemitic conspiracies Nigel Farage has sold videos in which he endorsed a neo-Nazi event, repeated extremist slogans and supported a man convicted over his involvement in a far-right riot. The videos are among several highly questionable clips identified by the Guardian in an investigation into the Reform UK leader’s use of the personalised video platform Cameo. They include videos in which he repeats a motto associated with the UK far right, references antisemitic conspiracy theories and makes misogynistic remarks about leftwing politicians – including a comment about the US congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s breasts.
