RESIDENT EVIL was perfect. I'm a complete sucker for shoving a guy who kinda sucks into a meat-grinder for an hour and a half, and this does that admirably. Felt like an RE sequel I wish I could play. Going to have it playing in the background constantly. I need to see it ten more times right now.

Hearing that the new Resident Evil movie has Evil Dead vibes reminds me of this true story: a Capcom rep came to the office of the game mag I worked at to show us an early version of the localization of the first RE and told us that they wanted to market it as “Sam Raimi Presents Resident Evil.”

Cregger’s RESIDENT EVIL is one of the most fun times I’ve had in a theater all year. A non-stop barrage of frequently hilarious set pieces that pay loving tribute to the games. The audience I was with screamed and cackled throughout. And I’m so impressed by how much they kept out of the marketing!
