“Abrupt” doesn’t need to be a bad thing. RESIDENT EVIL has always been about what’s behind the next door. The ending is all about slamming the final one shut. “What the fuck just happened?” Is such a vibe. Always leave them wanting more.

RESIDENT EVIL was perfect. I'm a complete sucker for shoving a guy who kinda sucks into a meat-grinder for an hour and a half, and this does that admirably. Felt like an RE sequel I wish I could play. Going to have it playing in the background constantly. I need to see it ten more times right now.

Hearing that the new Resident Evil movie has Evil Dead vibes reminds me of this true story: a Capcom rep came to the office of the game mag I worked at to show us an early version of the localization of the first RE and told us that they wanted to market it as “Sam Raimi Presents Resident Evil.”
