Glad folks are appalled by photos of the "phone booth" cage under an awning, but pls understand: This IG report is likely part of a cover-up. Amnesty Int'l interviewed detainees EIGHT MONTHS AGO who said the cage was half this size (couldn't stand up), had no awning, w feet chained to the bottom.

Cant help but imagine this isn't really about AI, but about the age old attempt to add and keep all knowledge within a privatized, technical enclosure. In many ways, LLMs could serve as an augmentation to the project of the library. Instead they'll be used to further entrench the rent economy.

In many ways Snowden did nothing to promote privacy and surveillance reform in our society. In some ways it just created a blackpill, moving the Overton window from a society that had some expectations of privacy to a society that had an expectation of overwhelming and comprehensive surveillance.

I did not realize that emulation was this far ahead. The previous iteration was able to do very simple behavior like extending and retraction a tongue based on smell, but now they have an uploaded fly brain capable of controlling a simulated fly. Won't be too long until lobsters at this rate

So many now are posting as "Anti-AI" as if AI has anything to do with their dignity as persons, professionals, and artisans. The problem is not AI, the problem is a set of legal and economic infra that denies people their humanity, security, dignity. The problem isn't AI - it's people and politics.
