The haul from raiding a bookstore yesterday. Excited for the end of the year reading list.

A stack of books placed on the edge of a sofa with the wider room blurred in the background.

There is a Japanese series on Netflix called Sai. It’s quiet, unassuming and absolutely horrifying. There is slow burn, and then there is this. Just so well written and the visuals are like a painting brought to life.

The story of Lust Stories 3, is just amazing. Vishal Bhardwaj knows how to tell a story. Like how beautiful was it. I would say skip the rest of the stuff and only watch this..

Just when you think you know where it’s going, you get stunned. The writers have done a real good job with Lanterns. No, I don’t care it doesn’t stand up to the lore of Hal Jordan. This is a pretty good series so far.

Entitlement check. Have a puja at home, then just steal two bags of sand from the kid’s play area in the apartment complex. Why you ask? Am I not paying the maintenance fee? I am owed this sand if I need it. Fucking assholes. PS: Amazon sells puja sand in India. 1kg Rajasthan sand costs 131₹ 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

I dug up an old iPhone 7 Plus (did not want to get rid of it for sentimental reasons) and turned into an Home Assistant control kiosk. Removed all the apps on it. Home Assistant in Kiosk Mode with Guided Access turned on. Bought a cheap 99₹ case and mounted it on the power panel using 3M tape.

Photograph of an iPhone mounted bertically on a power panel. The screen is showing the Home Assistant running in kiosk mode.

So, I ordered something from an online store (based in Gurgaon) and it was shipped to Bangalore on 30th. The parcel, carried by Bluedart, has so far been bouncing from the BIAL hub to the Delhi hub. It’s happened twice already. They are playing catch-catch.

This is what I would use AI for, giving me 1. Proper placements for my pre-amp, amp, etc 2. Optimal settings for the audio input and setup. It gave me references from forums I wouldn’t have known to look at. It sounds pretty sweet now with the pre-amp gain at the minimum.

It takes only two adapters, but my god is it gorgeous to shoot with. Using a 1950s Nippon Kogaku Nikkor-S 50/1.4 on a modern Zf. The lens is a Sonnar design giving beautiful dreamy out of focus areas and sharp subjects.

So finally took out my X100V to shoot. Shooting anything after a two year break? Someone made a PlusX simulation recipe for FujiFilm cameras and it’s brilliant. Low lighting bar, with a few friends and some great music. Purple Rain, Purple Rain…
