Man, I think I'm a special kind of #gamedev geek, but I find nothing cozier than sitting in a comfy chair with a good drink and reading a @shmuplations.bsky.social article. This is probably my fave so far: shmuplations.com/itoimiyamoto/

This feels like the human interaction equivlent of playing an old video game with save states and rewind. You successfully navigated the situation, but you learned nothing from the experience and have potentially made future encounters more difficult because now you're less prepared for them.

the current remake discourse seems very console brained, arguing that limitations of the time are essential to a game's experience. i dont think ive ever seen a PC gamer say you're not truly playing half-life if you're not playing it at 640x480 with software rendering at 30 fps

Found a post about the current goings-on at Halo Studios and OHHHH man... obviously there are MANY unanswered questions about this "Activision Era" of Halo... but considering what Halo Studios was up to, we may have dodged a bullet or... four. Can you say "AI and outsourcing?"

Not that I was ever chomping at the bit for it, but I wonder if this means that those Halo 2 and 3 remakes are getting canned as well.

Ninja Gaiden being in the same universe as Dead Or Alive is hilarious because the fact the cast of DOA can hang with Ryu Hayabusa in a fight upscales the hell out of all of them, plus the likes of Kasumi, Ayane and Rachel being in both series just further certified how crazy strong they actually are

Like Ryu is massively hypersonic and has defeated demons that could split planets in half and unironically this cute little college student that does karate is a top 4 strongest character across the franchise and would give Ryu a hard time 🤣

I did the thing Top six are all some of my all-time favorites. The bottom three were all very formative to me when I was young, but I don't go back to them very often.

My 9 Games: Persona 5 Royal, Halo: Combat Evolved, Doom (2016), Mega Man X, Devil May Cry 3, Lego Batman The Video Game, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, Batman: Arkham City

Maybe this will be the thing to make people say “Actually the 343i Halo games were good and we were too hard on them, these new Activision games suck.” Maybe this will be their “the Star Wars sequels made everyone a lot kinder towards the prequels” moment.

DarkWingSpartan @darkwingspartan.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

No no no no no no… you see, I skip all the side stuff because I LIKE being underpowered in these games. XD That’s half the fun, that’s the point where you have to actually git gud and learn all the mechanics and systems (rather than just find one OP thing and steamroll the whole game).
