15 Years At The Internet Society… 🤯
15 years ago today, September 19, I joined the Internet Society to advocate for deployment of Internet standards such as IPv6, DNSSEC, and TLS. Being who I am, I wrote a long post back in 2011 about WHY I was making this change - much of which is still applicable today! Coming from several startups, I kind of expected to perhaps be at "ISOC" for a couple of years and then move on…

One Class In High School That Changed My Life – And I Almost Didn’t Take It
It's funny how decisions you may make in the moment can affect the course of your life. It was the fall of 1984 and I was signing up for classes for my last semester at my high school in southern Connecticut. I had one open course slot and I had to sign up for some class. I'd completed all my required courses and could sign up for any course I wanted.

A Livestream of Dragon Boats – and the magic of the Internet!
This weekend I was reminded again of just how amazing this Internet we've all built together really is! There I was at 6:00am in my house in Vermont ... drinking my cup of tea and watching my wife and her team compete in dragon boat races some 3,700 miles (~ 6,000 km) away in France. I could see them paddling hard in their boats.

AVFTCN 042 – How Many Satellites Are Planned for LEO? (Also… Australia travel)
How many satellites are currently planned for low Earth orbit (LEO)? 10,000? 100,000? 500,000? 1,000,000? 10,000,000? The answer is higher than you might expect in terms of filings with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)... the real question is: how many will actually launch into orbit? I gave a presentation about all of this at the SPACE Research Group session at the recent IETF 126 meeting in Vienna.
