When Trump posted a video of the Obamas as apes the NYT claimed "it was unclear if Mr. Trump was aware" that he posted it

I can’t say this enough times. If they’re already having to arrest citizens and green card holders and end TPS- the ‘swarm of illegals crossing the border everyday’ was never actually a problem.

These people cannot be trusted to vote in their best interests. Ever. They have failed at the most simple task and have driven this country to ruin. They are too stupid to be allowed to have a say in the future of the country. Convince a non-voter to vote. There are LOTS of those.

It really gives the game away when the anti trans orgs are calling the election of the neo nazi party in Germany a "glimmer of hope."
A screenshot of an online article headline from "Inspecting Gender" by Genspect. The main heading reads: "Germany: A Glimmer of Hope for Sex Realists?" Below the title, the summary text asks: "Is the victory of the AfD in Germany a dark day for democracy or a glimmer of hope for sex realists? By David Allison." The bottom metadata displays the Genspect logo, "5 hours ago," and a "Listen" audio option button. In the top right corner, there is a teal "Subscribe" button alongside a circular profile avatar.

Here's a map of how iron ore mined in Minnesota moves (the red lines). Note the markers for where steel facilities are located, they're where they are because you have to move the stuff on ships. There are no steel mills in Iowa of any size because you can't get the fucking stuff it's made of there

It's not something I feel like doing myself, but it would be really cool to break down total water rights in California by partisanship of the owners. It might really shift perspectives to learn that we're turning our state into a desert when 70% of acre-feet are owned by Republicans.

A remarkable Mexica gold serpent labret (lip jewelry), cast by the lost-wax method and fitted with a movable, bifurcated tongue. From Central Mexico, though its exact state of origin is unknown, 1325–1521 CE, it likely marked elite status and powerful speech.

In the first half of 2026, 8 people died by gun homicide in PDX. In the first half of 2026, 17 people died as a result of transportation crashes on PDX streets. May they rest in peace. Traffic violence is real. Safety should always be prioritized over car speed (and more car lanes and car parking).

Right? 😅 I asked my bike shop (not where I bought the bike) about that and they said they weren't worried; the tires are custom but other tire sizes do fit, and there are enough RadWagons out there that there's supposedly a market for 3rd party parts.

FWIW, when I bought my RadWagon used off Craigslist last year I was worried about the lack of a chain guard. But honestly neither I nor my 10yo passenger have ever had an issue. (That Tern chain guard looks really nice though!)

For some context, this kind of local police to ICE pipeline has been a dream for decades. “Secure Communities” under Bush/Obama was an early iteration, but never got anywhere near the funding ICE has now. It generated enough backlash against Obama that ICE was reined in. Very different times now.

Beef production has been the largest driver of deforestation this century. Over the last two decades, around 128 million hectares of forest have been cleared to make way for agriculture and forest plantations. That’s an area five times the size of the United Kingdom.

What do we still share in an age of political polarization?
Deepening fragmentation reflects an urgent challenge: our growing difficulty in identifying what truly matters, and therefore in designing policies that promote our collective well-being.

Seriously though, this was the Reagan years. GenX grew up during a huge backlash to the political liberalism of the 60s and cultural liberalism of the 70s. In the mid-80s, hippies, environmentalism, feminism, racial integration, were all punchlines. Got more sinister in the 90s w Rush Limbaugh.
