As someone who was at the Manvers asylum hotel riot, this is a fascinating piece about what led one man, 61-year-old Peter Lynch, to be there that day. Lynch took his own life in prison 76 days later. Great reporting by my colleague Victoria Munro.

In May, Reform UK in Sheffield were on the up. Stellar election results had left them with 13 councillors, and a by-election offered the promise of more to come. But what should have been quick vote to select a popular local candidate turned into a vicious argument, one that continues to this day.

When King Edward’s Swimming Pool closed its doors for good in June, it led to an outpouring of emotion. Up until May, there were no outward signs of any problems, which is why the news came as such a surprise. We had heard reports of a staff walkout—and wanted to find out what led them to depart.
