Last month, The Times reported that Liverpool is the UK’s fastest growing HMO hotspot. The number of HMOs in Liverpool has more than tripled since 2015, from 4,850 to 16,494 last year. In November, the city council opened bids for HMOs for temporary accommodation worth £21.5m. 🧵

In 2017, punters in the Cleveland Arms pub in New Ferry were enjoying a Saturday night drink and a set by a local band. Mid-song, the doors and windows blew open with such violent force that glass, timber and other debris flew around the pub like toothpicks in a cyclone. 🧵

In June 1992, Paula Gilfoyle was found hanged in the garage of the Merseyside home she shared with her husband, Eddie. She was 8 1/2 months pregnant. Though tragic, police officers who attended the scene did not regard the death as suspicious. 🧵
