Do you know of an academic department or field that has figured out how to value the contributions of an individual, for the purposes of hiring and promoting faculty, that is better than relying on journal articles?

I have a question about the future of metrics for hiring and promoting faculty in science. Academic journal articles have been our currency for a long time, but are under extreme & mounting pressure. Is any dept or field already using a better metric *for hiring and promoting faculty*?

When we talk about how science is broken, maybe at least consider how a huge collaboration measured the ripples in spacetime resulting the collision of two black holes 1.3 billion light years away, as counterweight the guy who had to fake his data to show that people who procrastinate fall behind.

I did not imagine that I'd ever move away from git. But the next-gen VCS @jj-vcs.dev seems unambiguously better. It somehow manages to be jointly more simple, powerful, and intuitive. There's also very little switching cost (e.g. it can sit atop existing git repos as a transparent wrapper). #jj-vcs
