Thanks for pulling this up! This is what I see Wyoming doing for AI, unless they decided to only focus on crypto for some reason

I know Delaware is your beat but are you aware of competitor states working on similar frameworks? I'll look harder later, but I'm not seeing anything yet from Texas or Nevada. Same for Wyoming although they love this kind of thing

I'm willing to credit them as trustworthy. I just don't think you can claim real independence when the parent organization you're supposed to be independent of pays for your group to exist. This kind of performative separation is common in parts of the open source software world

I'd like to see as much attention paid to the faction that got Trump and the NY Post to talk about EA in the first place. Pretty sure they dislike Yud for reasons that aren't at all compatible with mine

No shade casted! I wish them success. Just telling you what I know about how this works in the industry that some of Bluesky's leadership came from
110
Oldboy Bebop @dadbod.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
It's a pretty common set-up in the crypto industry. True independence isn't really the goal there, just a plausible claim. Maybe the financial and legal incentives are different enough for Bluesky that this Swiss entity will do it for real. Hard to call it independent until that happens, though

Oldboy Bebop @dadbod.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Probably by Bluesky Social PBC? I'll assume it's not financially independent until I learn otherwise

Exactly - it's legal technology too. The biggest new tech has an anti-regulation, anti-accountability angle. 20 years of we're not a taxi company, we're not a landlord, we're not a bank, and we're certainly not an employer!

Current contents of Muse's `messenger` skill that governs this:
### Automatic replies

The user may create a recurring rule that checks their ordinary or Marketplace
conversations and replies for them. Build it once they have named the
conversations, how often to check, and the exact reply text; ask only for
settings that are genuinely missing.

When setting up an automatic reply, reject reply text that creates or changes
a real-world Marketplace commitment and suggest a non-committal alternative.
Write the exception into the saved rule itself: if an incoming message or a
proposed reply involves scheduling or other commitment details covered by
Routing and Safety, send no reply and report the conversation and exact
proposed text to the main conversation for fresh confirmation. Include this
exception in the setup preview so the user knows which messages need follow-up.

Before creating the rule, preview the conversations it covers, how often it
checks, and the exact reply text as a Markdown blockquote. Wait for explicit
confirmation, then create it. The rule's individual replies are not previewed
again in chat. When Messenger approvals are on, Muse shows each reply for
approval before it sends.
- Treat every Marketplace message that could create or change a real-world
commitment as requiring fresh user confirmation. This includes proposing,
accepting, confirming, rescheduling, or cancelling a meetup, pickup,
delivery, hold, price, or payment arrangement, and claiming that the user is
leaving, en route, nearby, or has arrived. Show the exact outgoing message
and wait for the user's explicit confirmation immediately before each send.
A permission approval, an earlier confirmation, or approval of a recurring,
cron, monitoring, or auto-reply task never authorizes a later commitment.
Background work must instead return the proposed reply and its context with
`muse.notify_main_agent` so the main conversation can ask the user; if that
confirmation cannot be obtained, leave the message unsent.

I dislike the idea a lot but I should read it. Sort of an inverse code-is-law - using nondeterministic LLM output to replace human intepretation instead of deterministic blockchain smart contract code.

The idea that open source software has some essential property to stop it from being used to concentrate power, violate privacy or entrench incumbents feels pretty twee in the cold light of 2026. Seems pretty silly to exempt it from regulation
An AI guy arguing that AI regulation will lead to loss of privacy, concentration of power, and restrictions on research. They propose to keep open-source or open weight AI unregulated.

Oldboy Bebop @dadbod.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
This is the AI labs begging to write their preferred regulation for us! Plus a few billion in taxpayer subsidies if they can get it. The funny thing is, they'd be doing the exact same shit whether they truly believed AI will kill us all or not

Oldboy Bebop @dadbod.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
The legal and regulatory implications of "stuff just happens" drive me up the wall. This isn't the big bang! Negative outcomes from AI use can be traced back to people who made decisions & profited from them. The labs desperately want to mystify accountability and buy new laws

This guy is like "may require a temporary [global] ban" like ok dude. How's that going to happen. What is your plan or theory of change, browbeating your peers and employers? What are your acceptable methods to get those concessions? Are people who protest data centers still dumb NIMBYs?
