This morning’s 30min walk to Gorseinon: - 5 phone drivers, one stopped on the zigzags outside a Primary School - Almost hit by a Virgin Media van driving on the pavement - saw me last second - Three cars no front number plate - Gas works, a closed pavement and zero provision for pedestrians

This is demonstrably, measurably improving the health of the people who live there. Most notably, it increases the respiratory *& cognitive* health of children. They literally do better in school. If this country really gave a shit about children, this would be at the top of the public-policy list.

There are two questions these people need to answer: 1. How does a vehicle approaching from behind that is about to hit you sound different from a vehicle approaching from behind that is about to miss you? 2. If it did sound different, what action could a rider take in one second or thereabouts?

A great example of why the "make eye contact with drivers and wear reflective clothing" advice for pedestrians and cyclists is bad. Nothing short of physically limiting where and how drivers can operate their vehicles will work.

I cannot imagine why our local Council (Swansea) never want to do anything about blocked cycle paths, shared use paths, double yellows etc, bloody etc… On a completely unrelated matter, here’s a #SwanseaCouncil work van parked on a pavement (it’s a regular visitor to this stretch of pavement)

As we write in the book, we need less focus on adults who scream "I've lived in the city for the last 50 years and don't need bike lanes" and more focus on kids who say "I am going to live in the city for the *next* 50 years and want to be able to get around safely."
