Continuing its voyage into uncharted waters, the latest preliminary Nino 3.4 sea-surface temperature anomaly is now at a record 3.08°C above the 1991-2020 baseline. Models expect the Nino 3.4 anomaly to continue rising into at least mid-November. Then there will be dragons.

This is cool— apparently @adamtranter.bsky.social transformed a street parking space into a parklet (mini park/public space), but the municipality removed it because it wasn’t a mother vehicle. So he did this. Nice job. And dumb interpretation by city hall. Via Marco Te BrommelStroet on LinkedIn.

We do not build the reservoirs needed to store the rain that falls here. We do not build strategic food reserves needed to maintain provision in hard times. We failed to build effective stores of PPE, to protect us in pandemics. This country has long been governed by people who do not prepare.

The Nino 3.4 sea surface temperature (preliminary) is at 29.65°C, as of August 9th, the 72nd consecutive record daily high, on its way to crushing the previous record high of 29.82°C, set November 17th, 2015. The Nino 3.4 anomaly currently sits at 2.77°C above the 1991-2020 average.
