That wasn’t true of her, but genuinely when most of your state party members vote identically to the GOP, what is the point? You yourself said the goal is to defeat MAGA. So why are you so upset at us that we’re pointing out your members are not that far and not yelling at those members to be better

You know you’re winning when all you can say is, “nuh-uh“. Like, there are legitimate complaints leftists (esp. trans leftists) make about him. This simply isn’t one of them. He has put his money where his mouth is and is supporting trans kids in need, and you’re upset he did it. Fix your heart.

First, we shouldn’t complain when cajoling politicians gets us our way. Second, he never gave up on us. He was open about how his hands were temporarily tied and as soon as he got funds together he announced the actual details of a program he’d already been talking about trying to set up.

It’s funny how you lot always go “but Biden didn‘t have a lot of power, he was only the president” when we point out that all of the anti-trans legislation in what is now most of the states passed when He was in office, but when it comes to a mayor it’s “why hasn’t he overturned federal policy?!“

For reference my brother in law is a veteran who is now a steel worker in Columbia and he’s more progressive than you or your husband. It has nothing to do with working class, education, or red state identity & everything to do with your own prejudices.

You should try meeting and talking with a real life trans person. U til you do well just be a hypothetical issue in your head. (Yes, this is me turning your statement around. You’re the one in the bubble denying basic reality. Go learn even a single thing and then we’ll talk)

Good thing men don’t play on women’s sports, then isn’t it? Trans women aren’t men. Not even biologically. They’re women who deserve the same rights as all other women. News flash, your husband’s opinion on women’s rights is not the end-all, however “liberal” (or not, you know) he is.

Then by that measure all they’re doing is harming a minority for fun, if it’s not to win since they know they’ll lose anyway. Sounds like a shitty situation for you to be stuck in, being forced to vote for willingly evil people. Sorry

You might want to read about the history of women’s sports, too. If you’re getting into reading and all. (Hint, they weren’t fought for by feminists, but imposed on women when they beat men at their own game)

You might want to read, well, *anything*. I was going to say, “anything about this topic,” but it seems like that’s too advanced for your reading comprehension level. Books banned from libraries are banned books by the definitions in the very article you’re talking about.

It’s easy not to run at all. If you can’t make protecting human rights sound like a positive part of your campaign you need to leave the Democratic Party. Sorry, that’s just the truth. Democratic voters care about human rights, yes even in South Carolina.

Please show me where Biden or Harris campaigned enthusiastically for trans rights. You can’t, cuz they avoided the issue. The Democratic party largely stepped aside and let the GOP control the narrative. Which they noticed and ran with, knowing they wouldn’t get a response. Last 8 years? Please.

If it works, that's pretty cool; I didn't think
would ever see this implemented (I also didn't
expect LLMs to exist).
However, this is not something you can PR
here, or anywhere. You sent me a nearly 50k
line diff, unasked for, completely LLM built, and
you somehow expect me to review it. There is
SO MUCH unrelated garbage here. Never
minding all of the docs and Python, you've
somehow touched basically all of the upstream
HDL, which already had MSU1 support, so idk
what in the world you're doing.
This kind of behavior is not acceptable. You are
infringing on the time and brainpower of people
by pushing "your" content that little/no of your
brainpower went into; completely unrequested.
I hope for the sake of all responsible
maintainers that you do not do such a thing
again.
Again, I think it's cool that you and your LLM
supposedly got this to work. It has no place in
my world.

a little louder for the cheap seats in the back
One of the biggest myths is that men rape by mistake. Like, "Oh, they need consent training." But research is very clear: Sexual violence is not a mistake. It is an intentionally made decision by people who know they don't have consent. They just don't prioritize consent over things like status, power, domination, and sexual gratification.
For my research, I got a certificate of confidentiality from the National Institutes of Health, so my notes couldn't be subpoenaed. One of the reasons I call them perpetrators in my work is because every single person I interviewed confessed in that context. The first question I would ask them was, "When you received that email from Title IX that you were under investigation, did you know what it was about?" Every perpetrator I interviewed said "yes." If sexual assault were a miscommunication, you would be wondering, What have I possibly done wrong? That is not the way that any of them reacted because they knew.

The assertion that "powerful cultural institutions" and the Democratic Party "treated more tradition-minded Americans as evil or backward" has become such a cliche in the punditry that people who say this feel no need to offer examples (or a single example) and journalists rarely ask them to do so.
Slade: I’ll be honest with you: Broad swaths of the American electorate, including members of some demographics that were once solid Democratic constituencies, came to feel extraordinarily resentful that both the Democratic Party and a lot of powerful cultural institutions (higher education, the mainstream media) were going all in on a sort of militant identity politics that treated more tradition-minded Americans as evil or backward.

This created a real siege mentality, where people were inclined to throw their lot in with someone whom they perceived as on their side and who said he would fight the forces that were hostile to them.

Today, I resigned as Vice Chair of the ODP Pride Caucus. The state party expects us to be a sales team, censoring our voices when we beg candidates not to trade on trans lives. I am still a Democrat, but I will not value party approval over true, defiant advocacy. Full text below. 👇
Part 1 of an open letter of resignation by Arienne Childrey, stepping down as Vice Chair and member of the Ohio Democratic Party (ODP) Pride Caucus. She states that party leadership treats the caucus as a recruitment and sales team rather than a representative body. She cites an incident where the ODP censored and denied permission for the caucus to post a letter by two trans leaders addressing harmful comments made by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton. The State Party Chair reportedly called the letter an "unwelcome distraction," which Childrey notes demonstrates how little party leadership values the voices and dignity of LGBTQ+ Democrats.
Since that decision, every Caucus plan, every potential post, and every path forward has been filtered through a lens of strict compliance and ODP approval. That may very well be the party's rule, but following those rules right now is a dereliction of our duty to the LGBTQ+ community.

For me, any rule that silences advocacy for the trans community during this time is an unjust rule, and I see no obligation to follow it. In alignment with the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in his Letter from Birmingham Jail:

“One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws.”

We are living in incredibly dangerous times for the trans community. We are in an era where the GOP has so thoroughly weaponized trans lives that even some formerly self-professing allies within our own party have fallen prey to the rhetoric. Looking at the national trend towards Democratic anti-trans triangulation, as well as our own internal conversations, it is clear to me that this shift is much more than a simple coincidence.

We have to speak up—loudly, strongly, and unapologetically—or I fear what our 2028 choices may look like. The ODP would like everyone to believe they are a "big tent" party. However, their successful efforts to silence even the Pride Caucus—even in cases where we are simply begging our candidates not to trade on our lives for perceived electoral advantage—has proven otherwise. The tent hasn't gotten any bigger; it has simply shifted, leaving many trans individuals, progressives, and allies out in the rain.

I will continue to advocate, organize, and fight for our community with everything I have. But I can no longer compromise my own moral principles by remaining part of a caucus that appears more interested in party approval than in true, defiant advocacy.

Sincerely,
Arienne Childrey
