"The swaying of the coach is soothing, and it’s easy to let it rock him further away from consciousness. Until-
“Oh, I’m sorry. I don’t even know your name! I’m Jayce, or Ser Jayce of the Pilt if we’re being formal.”
To that, Viktor simply cracks open a single eye. He knows the Pilt well. Too well. But there’s no sign of malice, and no pre-emptive glee at watching a mouse corner himself in the other man – Jayce’s eyes. Just plain curiosity.
“It’s… Viktor,” he mumbles, trying to hide his internal kicking himself for being truthful, not sticking to one of the many false names he’s crafted over the years. “Just Viktor.”
“Well, it’s good to meet you, ‘Just Viktor’.” The crinkles of Jayce’s eyes are so... fascinating that it takes him a moment to realise he’s being teased. Sleep, however, refuses to hold back her tide any longer so his last thought going into the dark is golden eyes set into golden skin."

"Right on schedule, the paramedics burst through the ambulance bay doors. One paramedic was at the patient's head, using a bag valve mask to help them breathe. The other, Loris, Jayce distantly recalled, was wheeling the gurney through the ER at a brisk pace.

Two doctors and another nurse had joined Jayce and Silco in the resus bay. They all stood in position ready to transfer the patient onto the bed.

As the gurney was pulled up beside the bed, the other nurse quickly drew the privacy curtains.

""Alright,"" the first paramedic panted. ""Let's get him transferred and hooked up to everything, then we can do the handover.""

Jayce grabbed one of the hospital's bag valve masks and joined the paramedic at the patient's head. ""I'm taking over the airway,"" he declared to the room.
