Ten years ago, I was at a meeting of reenactment combat trainers (many manly men!) when one made a really inappropriate comment. I rolled my eyes, but another man said "That's a bit rapey, mate" and then changed the subject. It was as easy as that. And as hard as that. I try to follow his lead.

If I was cynical I would expect AI companies to continue to "accidentally hack third parties without being instructed to" until they are nationalised. That's the only way they could get off the tiger they're riding.

After the Incident these are no longer open to the public. A replica have been carved into the chalk of Royston Cave in Hertfordshire, which should be far enough away to be safe.

I'm playing this JRPG which takes place in both the distant past and the present, and one party member just went "Welp, I really like this girl we've helped here in the past and I feel I can make a real difference, so I'm staying here with her" and I went there in the present and found their grave.

When I was a student, I worked as a hospital cleaner in the summers. It was quite active work, physically, but not something that taxed me intellectually. I used to joke that I came in, got changed, put my clothes and brain in the locker, did a day's work, and changed back, brain still fresh. 1/2

Outgoing Swedish prime minister Ulf Kristofferson reminds me of David Cameron. No personal vision for the country, just "I'd like to be PM", and he leaves with little more legacy than having legitimised the far right.

Repost with your home river. I lived next to the Indalsälven River until I was eight. Dad worked at one of the many hydropower plants along its course. Then we moved to an island in the Storsjön Lake, which Indalsälven feeds into and runs out of. The hydropower plants regulate its water level.

Question for non-Australians: Does your culture have the well-known phrase “the good scissors”? A pair of sewing scissors reserved for cutting fabric, distinct from the everyday scissors, used for everything else. Children were always warned against and admonished for using “the good scissors”.

Went to see the latest Spiderman film. Was good. Hadn't been spoiled at all, so was very surprised once the villain's name was revealed. The twists and reveals were good, the setups for coming films in the MCU were not out of place. Young Tom has bulked up a bit, but not unreasonable so.

Now, I have a story in a drawer that I've been meaning to submit... It's quite a long story for me, which is too easy it's just over 500 words. Don't think I can make it half again as long without diluting it. Guess it'll stay in the drawer until they (or someone else) open flash submissions.

When I was in year 7, my physics teacher talked about eclipses, and how he'd seen the 1954 eclipse as a child. I asked why there wasn't an eclipse every month, on the new moon. Since it was completely dark, surely that meant the sun was behind the moon. He said "Good question, I'll look it up."
