Before Kung Fu Master & Karateka, there was... Attack of the Phantom Karate Devils on Commodore 64. A 1983 side scrolling fighter where you avenge your master and his daughter with full range of attacks in 8 directions. Incredibly ambitious and hopelessly broken. Still, quite a fascinating attempt.

Some discussion around this one point that was brought up about Marvel Tokon - It's not the first fighting game to lower the effectiveness of repeated attacks. No, it wasn't Smash, nor Way of the Warrior. It was the first version of Tongue of the Fatman in 1989. The CPU becomes immune eventually.
