The Borobodur Amiga game was the brainchild of Team Hoi's former 2nd coder. I contributed a tiny bit of graphics, such as the game over picture, and @reiniervanvliet.eurosky.social made the music using our Digital Mugician music editor. Your entered nickname was projected on the game over grave. ☠️

🧵 1/2 I happened to stumble upon a humorously written Moon Child development diary written by our coder @reiniervanvliet.eurosky.social in 1993. Check this quote. We would never have guessed that this would become something big 33 years later… 😃

Excerpt from Reinier van Vliet's Moon Child development diary:

"I retook the position as coder for MoonChild and I can proudly announce I've been working on it now for 1 straight month! This seems to be finally it, and it's going to be a sequel to our previous game Hoi as planned in the beginning. It will feature the old Hoi and his elderly brother. We wanna make it a two player game with a split-screen so the fun will be doubled. Metin has already made a lot of stunning gfx for the game and Ramon has started working on a title tune which even features lyrics! (Goes something like: Moonchild, ohwo-o-oh, you've got the power, to be his friend.) This sounds like a good idea to me."

I loved the Spindizzy game on the Commodore 64 as a kid. The final version had a spinning top instead of a sphere. I once made this 3D tribute to it.

Nothing has been cooler than Team Hoi being so chill about Moon Child's sudden popularity. Releasing the source code and being very supportive of all the silly jokes being made and even allowing Moon Child to appear in new games as a guest character. Genuinely so awesome.
