The cycle repeats again. Every 5 year or so I have to re-install The Sims on my mom's computer. This time, Sims 3. Ironically, I used to install them from their original CDs but now that has become impossible so I'm forced to get ahold of less uh... conventional copies.

A former dev from Arxel Tribe / Sinister Systems is on the RPG Codex talking about the 2003 Slovenian RPG 'Mistmare' rpgcodex.net/forums/threa... Interesting look at the challenges they faced - like how the writing was done expecting an actual writer / native English speaker to review it later

We've frequently been criticized for the poor quality of writing, of the dialogues in particular, which are also way too long and wordy. But in our defense, the deal with Arxel was that a professional, native english speaking writer would be hired for a complete overhaul before the game was published. As we were neither professional writers nor native speakers, that seemed pretty reasonable. But as it happened, there was just yet another case of "applied mismanagement" in the end, because the "overhauled text" we got from that lector was pretty much unchanged. Bummer!

Before Kung Fu Master & Karateka, there was... Attack of the Phantom Karate Devils on Commodore 64. A 1983 side scrolling fighter where you avenge your master and his daughter with full range of attacks in 8 directions. Incredibly ambitious and hopelessly broken. Still, quite a fascinating attempt.

Colony 28 is one of the earliest "classic" Czech games, a take on the Abuse / Blackthorn 2D action gameplay, graphics are incredibly well done and it is filled with amazing CG cutscenes for a 1997 DOS game. Gameplay is a bit too difficult for its own good, but will definitely provide a challenge.

Neverworld is a weird DOS adventure game from Italy. It goes from a psych introduction that has nothing to do with the game and then 10 minutes of an unskippable quiz ("you know you are worth shit in this universe?"). Three hours later you might get gameplay, both point and click and 2D action??
