Lots of POV action, which helps to increase the paranoia. The plot is set at night, which results in very limited fields of view in scenes which happen outside. Very creepy is a scene in a tunnel, which reminded me a lot of the original game and Half-Life 2

People who like John Carpenter's The Thing, Resident Evil cannot go wrong here. There's also some funny scenes, which help to relieve the tension. Kudos to Austin Abrams, stellar performance!

A clear reference to Rob Bottin's work in The Thing. Resident Evil is basically an alternate version of The Thing, just with a different setting. The same horrors (dog with split face!), the same paranoia, difficulties to identify friend vs foe etc. And it works!

Just back from the cinema and happy to report that Resident Evil (2026) is really very good. It really has the same creepy atmosphere the original game features, which is what I hoped for. Visually, it is very similar to The Thing (1982). The creatue and body-melting horror looks almost identical.

I got an itch to re-play these games after reading that article, damn! I loved the presentation of these games, too. The box, the code reel, the adventure journal, tavern tales and the included posters... Curse of the azure bonds was the first one for me, then the others followed. Addictive

#Shocktober The Blob (1988) - on 35mm one of my all time faves on the big screen, what a treat. This movie really has everything - great dialogue, characters, effects, gore, action. And of course Shawnee Smith, whom … my god the crush I had on her in this movie as a kid. She’s such a badass.

Nice background to the making of Gravity (2013). I saw this on the bis screen and liked it very much straightaway. A couple of physics issues didn't bother me too much (inertia is wrong when Stone loses her grip on Kowalski, some orbital mechanics stuff re: Chinese space station). Great movie!

This movie is full of references to 70s and 80s slasher movies, I am sure I missed a lot of them. Very cool, though. I also liked the movie in a movie in a movie twist in the latter part. Totally bonkers, but very surprising and it gives a lot of that is said in the first half sense and meaning

The chemistry between the two main characters, played by Gillian Anderson and Hannah Einbinder, is brilliant. Both perform very well, almost magnetic. Teenage Sex And Death At Camp Miasma (2026) #lastwatched I enjoyed this one very much! It's a satire, extremely meta and surreallistic. A meta-horror that worked for me. I'd say if you like 70s & 80s slasher movies this might be for you.
