Just finished the 3rd and most recent Ana and Din Mysteries audiobook (the series name does NOT do it justice) and I'm impressed by the consistency of quality in all 3, 5 stars throughout.

It has taken me 5 years to make pickled mustard greens again after the first time, according to my last logbook entry. Not sure why because I've been thinking about these ever since. The secret is 1.5% MSG.
A quart flip top jar with what looks like chinks of thick cabbage in it covered in brine. The label says "Mustard Greens".

A New Color (1/5🧵)
Page 1: A man is walking home, smoking a cigarette, being quietly trailed by a UFO above him. As he enters his apartment, two aliens watch from inside the ship. Alien 1, who has a large head, says, “that’s him. Let’s move.” Page 2: The man walks upstairs as the aliens watch from the entrance of the building. The man enters his apartment and greets his little dog. Suddenly there is a knock at the door.Page 3: he peers through his peephole, and sees the two aliens standing in the hallway. Alien 1 is holding a briefcase. From behind him, the voice of alien one: “don’t scream.” Page 4: The aliens are seated across the room on the man’s couch. Sadie is in her bed next to them. Alien 1 says, “you’re not in any danger. Have a seat.” The man looks at his dog and thinks, “sadie is unusually calm.” Alien 1: don’t scream, or it’s a problem.

I personally love the power that the block editor provides to users; I work with it as much as I can but another option is to entirely disable core block styles and provide your own, likely paired with a block allowlist.

I would love to see WP core use a cascade layer for all styles so that the theme styles by default override core styles. I know there's an open issue about this from several years ago.

For all human history, it was far more difficult to write a document than to read it. Until now. But generating a document doesn't make the work of *producing meaning* disappear. It's just been outsourced from the producers of the document to its consumers.

A programmer I follow decided to "learn math" via LLM and has been publicly hinting that he's getting close to some proofs... Any time you use an LLM for something outside of your own domain it is *inevitable* that there is a hallucination somewhere that you can't check.

Our AC is not quite keeping up with the heat so I called to make a service appointment. I had the pleasure of speaking to a "digital assistant" that sometimes randomly repeated things and had a weird emphasis on the word "a" as if every one was capitalized.

I am exasperated with people accusing programmers of "gatekeeping" programming. We were practically dragging people through the gate. Do you know why a mindless LLM can tell you so much great programming information? It's because we've been sharing that information for free online for decades.

I just scolded a very well-known developer on here for opening a PR that was completely generated with the bot's explanation copy-pasted, and he did not respond well. In this case the dev was well-intentioned and his reasoning eventually justified, but how do we handle that at scale...?

But you did call out that the description was generated. Maybe that's enough. I'm sorry I caused you this stress, the PR seems like a worthwhile effort. Don't listen to random scolds on the internet.

I don't think I'm saying you have to be an expert in the codebase to "launder" generated code. I believe it is important to show intent and effort, and you clearly did that with conversations that weren't evident in the confines of the PR description.
