Be sure to use Al when making your next, I don't know, meal plan, for example. Definitely do not call your friend who loves to cook and ask her for her favorite recipes or tips or ways to save time making meals, because you will end
up talking for longer than you had hoped, hearing, perhaps, about her father's cancer diagnosis or how lonely she's been or even what she's planted in her spring garden and then lost with the early frost.

Prime Minister Carney highlights new measures to combat antisemitism and support Canada’s Jewish community
Main Content
June 1, 2026
Toronto, Ontario
Canada’s fundamental insight is that unity does not require uniformity. We believe our differences are strengths to be nurtured, not risks to be managed. We believe that faith, language, heritage, and tradition are not concessions to citizenship – they are expressions of it.

Today, that nature is being tested, as Canadian Jewish communities face a surge of antisemitism to levels not seen in the post-war period. Last year, over two-thirds of all religion-motivated hate crimes were directed at Jewish Canadians, who make up only 1% of the population. That same scourge is occurring around the world – it plagues Europe, Australia, and the United States.

The shame is global. Our actions must be local. Canada’s new government has introduced six pieces of legislation over the last year to bolster public safety and combat antisemitism and other forms of hatred. Foremost of these, Bill C-9, the Combatting Hate Act, directly addresses the rise in antisemitism, hate-motivated violence, and the targeting of communities. It significantly strengthens the Criminal Code by creating new offences for intimidation and obstruction at places of worship, schools, community centres, and other institutions used by identifiable communities.

Additionally, through the Canada Centre for Community Engagement and Prevention of Violence, we are advancing work to confront hate online and violent extremism in our communities.

In the Spring Economic Update 2026, we committed an additional $75 million to the Canada Community Security Program (CCSP). The CCSP provides funding for communities at risk of hate-motivated incidents and crimes. It helps provide faith-based institutions with vital security infrastructure, training to respond to hate-motivated incidents, and additional security personnel where needed.

Today is officially the 30th anniversary of Steamed Hams. On April 14, 1996, "22 Short Films About Springfield" aired for the first time!

Well, Seymour, I made it- despite your directions.
Ah.
Superintendent Chalmers.
Welcome.
- I hope you're prepared for an unforgettable luncheon.
- Yeah.
Oh, egads! My roast is ruined.
But what if I were to purchase fast food and disguise it as my own cooking? Delightfully devilish, Seymour.
Ah- Skinner with his crazy explanations The superintendent's gonna need his medication When he hears Skinner's lame exaggerations There'll be trouble in town tonight Seymour! Superintendent, I was just- uh, just stretching my calves on the windowsill.
Isometric exercise.
Care to join me? Why is there smoke coming out of your oven, Seymour? Uh- Oh.
That isn't smoke.
It's steam.
Steam from the steamed clams we're having.
Mmm.
Steamed clams.
Whew.
Superintendent, I hope you're ready for mouthwatering hamburgers.
I thought we were having steamed clams.
D'oh, no.
I said steamed hams.
That's what I call hamburgers.
You call hamburgers steamed hams? Yes.
It's a regional dialect.
- Uh-huh.
Uh, what region? - Uh, upstate New York.
Really.
Well, I'm from Utica, and I've never heard anyone use the phrase "steamed hams.
" Oh, not in Utica.
No.
It's an Albany expression.
I see.
You know, these hamburgers are quite similar to the ones they have at Krusty Burger.
Oh, no.
Patented Skinner burgers.
Old family recipe.
- For steamed hams.
- Yes.
Yes.
And you call them steamed hams despite the fact that they are obviously grilled.
Ye- You know, the- One thing I should- - Excuse me for one second.
- Of course.
Well, that was wonderful.
A good time was had by all.
I'm pooped.
Yes.
I should be- Good Lord! What is happening in there? - Aurora borealis.
- Uh- Aurora borealis at this time of year at this time of day in this part of the country localized entirely within your kitchen? - Yes.
- May I see it? No.
Seymour.
! The house is on fire.
! No, Mother.
It's just the northern lights.
Well, Seymour, you are an odd fellow but I must say you steam a good ham.

Trying to compile of list of what a disaster Doug Ford has been. This is largely off the top of my head and it isn't even half of it:
- Defunding of proven supervised consumption sites to help reduce overdose deaths
- Closing the Ontario Science Centre over ‘cost of repairs’, only to propose spending $900M+ more on a new smaller science centre
- Developer giveaway of the waterfront on a 95year lease
- Skill Development Fund handouts of over $100M+ to rich insiders
- $112 million spent on advertising in one year, breaking a record
- OSAP cuts, forcing students to go further in debt for higher education
- Privatization of health care leading to underfunding of the public system
- Worsening family doctor shortage
- Using private staffing agencies for nurses, which charge the government more than a hospital would (with a profit from that going to the agency)..
    - ..instead of just paying the nurses properly through the existing system
- Changing the Freedom of Information Act so that Doug Ford can hide his phone records
