The 1964 Japanese masterpiece Onibaba scared the heck out of 14-year-old me back in the 70s. Still does a bit now!

Liar. Small boat crossings peaked under Johnson in 2022 reaching 46,000 in 2022. In current year they are 18,565 and falling. Also prior to Boris Johnson's Brexit there were none.
It's a disaster, and it can all be traced to
Labour ideology. Burnham has no mandate
from the people. He has no real ideas, and
no plan,

Hiii! Been taking a break from social media. It's been fucking great. Highlights: I completed my 1970s RnR-salvation teenage-years memoir 😃 And Julian turned me on to one of the most amazing songs I'd never heard – The Real Thing by Russell Morris ❤️ youtu.be/wylEB-P76nA?...

So many commercially released versions of the Play Away theme song, and none of them are *quite* what you heard on screen. I had a go at untangling them here because, well, it turns out it really *does* matter if it's raining or it's fine... timworthington.org/2018/05/03/i...

Why did none of the commercially released versions of the Play Away theme song ever quite match up with what you actually heard on screen?

As I keep saying - Talk has somehow become even worse than GB News It broadcasts a seemingly unending slough of misinformation and hateful tropes and I'm at a complete loss as to why nothing is done.

'Gone To Earth isn’t simply soothing because, for all its beauty, it has an unsettling, unmooring quality which, prefiguring the post rock of the unknowable future, derives from dismantling conventional practices and presumptions.' #DavidSylvian's Gone To Earth turns 40 today! buff.ly/0hgKSgs
David Sylvian's Gone To Earth album cover with Japanese obi strip. A circular, mandala-like shape that appears to be hung like a necklace, comprised of blue, red, orange and white with a triangle in the upper part and a square in the lower section.

I'd very much appreciate it if you took a moment to read the alt text on this. www.tom-cox.com
The photo is one I took during a long coastal walk of the Daymark, a brutalist Victorian shipping tower in Devon, UK. It's old, mysterious, seems a bit like it's from outer-space, likes being near the sea, and looks like it could be a great psychedelic record cover so I think it quite sums up the writing on my website, which I wanted to invite new followers here to have a look at via the link above. There's absolutely LOADS on there, much of it readable for free, if you decide to sign up for the emails where I send it out. I deleted my Instagram account today and it's my hope that I can soon get to the stage where Bluesky is the only social media I use and everything else goes to people via my site, without idiot algorithms getting in the way. Which will ultimately give me more time to write (I hope). My suggestion is that you sign up for the free package then, if you like it, you can always support my writing by signing up for the paywalled stuff too. I've offered a choice of prices, starting at less than £2 per month, so hopefully everyone who really wants to read everything I write will be able to afford it.

Much of which to be proud, but today we came up against a well-oiled machine. Australia had plans for how to bowl and bat and executed them perfectly. Being up close to that should only help to improve our promising group of players.
