iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

I live and breathe Identity. It is What I Do. I am struggling with a lot here. A defense identity provider with unecryted PII at rest in a location where a file sharing security hole can expose it. I have so many questions.

Work IT just sent out an email saying “Stop clicking on web ads and pop ups” with info about fake download/error buttons, etc. I (not-IT) want to just tell them “You either deploy adblockers or you deploy malware” but will probably have to find a gentler way to do so.

Control: Resonant is the most beautifully haunting game I have played since the original Control. And now with even more physic defying stuff. Fight last night bounced between all 6 cardinal planes including flying oriented towards each in turn. It's like the Inception hallway fight 24/7.

We're being told that if we sacrifice the rights of some people, then the rest of us get to keep our rights. We all know that's some BS.

This is my wife. Same basic order every two weeks, it steadily rose at Kroger, dropped when we moved to Aldi, and it has steadily been rising again. Still not at Kroger levels tho. We're 90th percentile. Affordability is beyond a middle class problem and they don't realize.

Played a bit of Control: Resonant the last two days. Control is one of my favorite games and has one of the best action sequences ever committed to 1s and 0s. There's an early ability that lets you shift the direction that is "down" and it just entirely breaks my brain to use, in the best way.

One of the most important things we can do outside of expanding the court is to get court precedent in place that it's not possible for the government to suffer irreparable harm.

Applying to enter as a refuge requires you to articulate that you are fleeing your home country due to a reasonable fear or threat. It's asylum by application instead of showing up at the border. You don't get to then go back to your home country to see your doctor.

And that humbling experience is behind me. Just need to close up the case and move it back to the corner. Consumer hardware homelab is a challenge I'm getting tired of. What's running inside the homelab, however, makes me smile every time I look at it. Got some SID cleanup to do though.

This should teach me not to cheap out on troubleshooting. After swapping the PSU, motherboard, and CPU, I was able to get it to POST, but it still would just boot loop, even with a USB tool. Finally started testing single sticks of RAM and the 4th BSODed the install tool. FML.

Joked with one of my other .gov colleagues that he's gonna sign an EO to try and get The White House app pushed to every phone and SmartTV in the country like he did for all .gov phones. Still think he's going to do it, just wrong about the Name.

You think you did a good job at component isolation but forgot the system uses on-CPU graphics so "didnt wakes the display with all components removed and a different PSU" led to a replacement motherboard that still isn't working. CPU on order. SSD boots in another machine.

Thankfully MS's Storage Space solution is (mostly) host-agnostic so I can just move the array to a different host to make sure that shit still works. I suspect it's either the PS or motherboard.

My VM host appears to have shit the bed. Dropped offline this morning, doesn't show back up after a reboot of the host and the router, doesn't respond with USB peripherals and a wired monitor/network, no TX lights on the NIC, and the BIOS key makes it boot loop. Mobo or PS. Yay.
