I live and breathe Identity. It is What I Do. I am struggling with a lot here. A defense identity provider with unecryted PII at rest in a location where a file sharing security hole can expose it. I have so many questions.

Work IT just sent out an email saying “Stop clicking on web ads and pop ups” with info about fake download/error buttons, etc. I (not-IT) want to just tell them “You either deploy adblockers or you deploy malware” but will probably have to find a gentler way to do so.

Control: Resonant is the most beautifully haunting game I have played since the original Control. And now with even more physic defying stuff. Fight last night bounced between all 6 cardinal planes including flying oriented towards each in turn. It's like the Inception hallway fight 24/7.

I think one of the most important legal/court reforms we need is statutorily removing the ability for the government to argue that it can be irreparably harmed.

I was trying to figure out why bsky and other news sites were both showing posts as being 12 hours ago when they just got made. Didn't even click as a time problem because it was exactly 12 hours even though everything I own that can has been on 24h time for over 30 years.

Complications from hardware issues on the VMhost. Environment was totally offline for 5 days and I half-assed getting it back up cleanly in exchange for haste in getting the Plex instance back up and running.

Wife's autoimmune issues are always a factor in our bills as well. Primary driver is Wheat, which is in almost as many things as HFCS. It's a cheap filler/binder, it's a thickening agent in many sauces, etc. I've changed soy sauce brands three times in two years.

This is my wife. Same basic order every two weeks, it steadily rose at Kroger, dropped when we moved to Aldi, and it has steadily been rising again. Still not at Kroger levels tho. We're 90th percentile. Affordability is beyond a middle class problem and they don't realize.

Played a bit of Control: Resonant the last two days. Control is one of my favorite games and has one of the best action sequences ever committed to 1s and 0s. There's an early ability that lets you shift the direction that is "down" and it just entirely breaks my brain to use, in the best way.

Applying to enter as a refuge requires you to articulate that you are fleeing your home country due to a reasonable fear or threat. It's asylum by application instead of showing up at the border. You don't get to then go back to your home country to see your doctor.

And that humbling experience is behind me. Just need to close up the case and move it back to the corner. Consumer hardware homelab is a challenge I'm getting tired of. What's running inside the homelab, however, makes me smile every time I look at it. Got some SID cleanup to do though.

I'm trying to decide how far I want to rollback test test the hardware with known-good ram and how bad I feel about abusing return policies. The board I 100% don't trust, but I can no-fault return the cpu that isn't an upgrade to what was in it already.

CommanderApaul @commanderapaul.com · 22/09/2026

This should teach me not to cheap out on troubleshooting. After swapping the PSU, motherboard, and CPU, I was able to get it to POST, but it still would just boot loop, even with a USB tool. Finally started testing single sticks of RAM and the 4th BSODed the install tool. FML.
