The first book proposal & sample chapter I ever wrote (& my agent & I tried to sell) was for the first live action film I remember seeing in the theater at age 6: MOONSTRUCK. Last night, I saw it on the big screen for the first time since 1988, & since it’s marked my life, I shared my thoughts.

I feel the need to confess something. Shirley Jackson's THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE (1959) is brilliantly conceived, exceptionally well written, a modern masterpiece of a novel, perfect in its precision, an instant classic. Wouldn't change a word of it. I hate it SO MUCH.
